Bit of guidance required please. Travelling the titled journey with my better half, two young walking children, and luggage on Friday mid morning. Just looking at journey options, and three stand out. 1.Central line to Holborn then on to the Piccadilly, or 2.Central line to Ealing Broadway then Tfl, or 3.Circle line to Paddington then Tfl.

Anyone have any experience of taking any of these routes with family, with regard to ease of transfer, busyness of stations, etc. What would be the preferable route? Or any other suggestions please.

Thank you.

I would say change onto the Piccadilly line, as the TfL Rail services to Heathrow are only half hourly.

I don't disagree with this for the outward portion, but on the return portion I would seriously consider changing at Ealing Broadway because the interchange (in the eastbound direction only) is very easy and you will be on the Central Line at the origin.

Although it involves an extra change and is probably slightly slower, Circle Eastbound to anywhere up to South Kensington, District to Barons Court, then Piccadilly, is same platform/cross platform each time and avoids the crowded interchange at Holborn.

This looks great! My partner is a regular user of Holborn to interchange and was most concerned about the prospect of transferring at this busy station. Mostly sub surface as well, so that makes it easy at Liverpool Street. Thank you for this @30907.

I also note your suggestion for the return journey @yorkie

Thank you for the help.

I'd personally get the H&C to Paddington, for TfL rail to Heathrow.
Although there's a long walk at Paddington, the H&C trains are relatively quiet.

Thanks for this suggestion. I took this route, changing at Temple and Baron Court at around 10am. It was easy to navigate with my children, we didn’t cause any obstruction to busy people, we had seats, and it took maybe 10 minutes longer than going the more direct route although not being on any train too long stopped the little darlings getting too fidgety.

Will probably do the same route on return. Thanks again.
