I thought 365s had already been considered for GWR?
Yes, the original intent was for GWR to operate 21 x Class 365 units alongside 37 x Class 387 units on Thames Valley services post-electrification. However, some sort of jiggery-pokery involving part of a speculative order by Poterbrook for 20 additional class 387s ultimately resulted in GWR receiving a homogenous fleet of 45 x Class 387s instead.

There aren’t any 387s going to HEx. They will still be GWR 387s!
I think you know exactly what was meant; if you’re going to be pedantic about it, they’re Porterbrook 387s.

Why are you talking about 387's to Heathrow.

This thread is about 365's to GWR.
Because the photo of the 365 vehicle in GWR colours at Ilford had a 387 in the background.

And this thread is not about 365s to GWR, it’s about why there is a 365 car in GWR paint at Ilford.

Maybe it's GWRs plan B for releasing 387s for HEx, because the 769s are so delayed...

769 introduction and 387s for HEX are not related. The delays to the former will in no way impact the release of 387s to HEx duties.

As far as I’m aware there are no plans at present for 365s to GWR.

Not really, I’ve gone over the actual cascade plan in several threads several times. It’s not relevant to the discussion here.

I believe it was sent to Booths for scrap some time last year. By my records this leaves just one vehicle from 365526 as still surviving.

Would I be right in saying that Eversholt bought the unit back from the insurance company after it was written off?

I was thinking that, but with a white roof? GA's were grey.
There was an off-lease RFM there for quite some time - 10240 from memory - so assume it is that, and it has been used for testing the paintshop it seems!

They’re called 345s, operating Crossrail. Covered many, many times.

That quote was well over a year old, and GWR needed to release the 387s for mods 6 months before Crossrail, so they bodged it with turbos for 6 months before the 345s entered service in December.

Its 10241, its previous livery was One, never in Greater Anglia colours.

The 365 car, 72290, went to Booths last October.
