The single biggest thing that we can do to slow climate change is to not have children. I wonder how many of the protesters have signed up to that?

The population growth is due to old people living longer and consuming with their relative wealth not more kids being born!

Aren't the protesters doing more harm by disrupting public transport and forcing more cars on the road ?

The 507 went electric in 2013. There are 450,000 electric buses in China too

He's glued himself to the window of the DLR train. Notice the policeman in the background.

"British Transport Police confirmed wi-fi has been shut off at some stations in a bid to deter demonstrators."

Perhaps someone would be kind enough to give the scruffy **** a wash and a shave while he's stuck there? ;)

It would probably annoy them. If everyone did it it would produce far more emissions than normal. So the whole thing would’ve been a complete disaster for the group. Result.

It would also needlessly produce lots of extra pollution - in particular, for diesel vehicles, particulates. Which would then be breathed in mainly by people who have no connection with Extinction Rebellion. And contribute (admittedly only very marginally) to climate change that also impacts just about everyone who has no connection to EXR. That would arguably make you, and the other people doing that, no better than the EXR protesters: Arguably worse, since at least they have an altruistic (albeit completely unrealistic) goal in mind.

If trains can go around the protester, I wonder how long TfL can just leave him there? When he needs to go to the toilet, eat, sleep etc then he'll soon be begging for help!

At least he's in no immediate danger at the moment so BTP should concentrate on more pressing matters, like their own lunch.

The protesters have been removed and taken away over an hour ago.

Tuk tuks is the UK are clean due to the regs unlike India and most are now electric, ha ha ha!

Obviously they would have had to have been brought in from the subcontinent, preferably on the biggest gas guzzling planes available.

Yeah, I saw that after posting. What a shame and missed opportunity!!

(Seriously though, I didn't really think they could just be left there)

No, crude oil shipping.
Easy jet have ordered 100 electric airliners; Loganair switch to electric planes next year.

Apparently they changed from targeting London underground due to the free WiFi being switched off at the BTP's request. So they could not communicate.

Are you sure of that? Everything I've read suggests electric airliners are about a decade away from commercial viability even for short routes - although it's certainly true that EasyJet have said in principle they want to run electric planes on their shortest routes.

For Loganair, they are talking about just one route - the Orkney Island hopping route, which is a less than 2-mile journey that typically takes about a minute, with a very small plane. So ideal for early testing of the concept of an electric plane, but not remotely typical of most commercial flights.

But surely having children is the most environmentally damaging thing people do? Initially, there is a tremendous amount of extra consumption by new parents. For example, getting a car or a bigger car. The production and disposal of nappies. But the environmental damage caused by the child and its descendants over their lifetimes is most problematic.
