In addition to the converted example discussed above, Strathclyde also had the sole brand-new single-deck Ailsa (NHS 782Y/AS1; new Mar. 1983). Originally intended for Tayside & fitted with Marshall Camair 80 bodywork, it would serve for just over 9 years before being destroyed in the disastrous Larkfield Depot fire in May 1992.

It was tragic to lose a unique vehicle like that. I hadn't realised that it had been intended for Tayside, though. The photo you've linked to shows it with its original windscreen, subsequently replaced with an Atlantean-style screen. The destination gear was modified as well.

Speaking of Tayside, they had a Fleetline rebuilt with a Marshall body. I think it originally carried an Alexander W-type.

Didn't Tayside have four Fleetlines rebuilt with Marshall bodies? Think they gained V-regs? Always liked the Marshall Camair bodywork!

Yes, it was four, and not one as I originally posted: DSR132-5V. I also liked the Marshall Camair - or anything that broke the Y-type monotony, for that matter!

They certainly stood out from the crowd. Sadly, the structural problems that led to the rebodying taking place to begin with soon reared their ugly heads again & they were withdrawn in short order. All four of them ended up with AA Buses/Dodds of Troon where they eeked out their final years.
