It's certainly a bit surprising that there isn't a City Loop from the north. I would have thought that any of those Mansfield Road services could have looped round via Broadmarsh.

The 1990s Centrelink 600/700 passed the Arena and then looped round Victoria bus station, stopping outside it. It changed its route and whether or not it charged a couple of times too.

Yes, NCT seem to have decided that the destination everyone wants is Victoria Centre, with all radial routes stopping nearby except the blue group (and the changes to the 49 will partly fix this). Unfortunately from the point of integrated transport they've gone for the railway station that closed 50 years ago! However at least sending the Green routes round the loop means that all central bus stops except Victoria bus station are connected to Midland station.

There's also a concern that there is no more kerb space available in the city centre to be devoted to bus stops. Sending more routes round the loop would probably increase congestion and delay the extra and existing routes.

They really need to finish Connecting Eastside - with Glasshouse Street being buses and bikes only.. (The original plan was for all the northbound traffic to use the current southbound route from the BBC Island to Aldi with the current northbound route being buses, bikes, and access only - the top half from the Ice Arena to Aldi was sorted years ago - it's just the bit round the Ice Arena/Bio City left).

Most of the local services have very good connectivity - it just doesn't involve bus stations. I did think it was a mistake shrinking both bus stations, but most services never used either.
Switching from the city routes (especially from the south of town) to the routes to the north of the county (Mansfield, Ikea etc) is always a pain - it's the Vic Centre bus station being so far out that is the biggest annoyance. Transfering to a coach service isn't much better - either three services (bus to town, city loop, coach) or a long walk through the city centre...

So after the consultation on the Sixes changes in May Trentbarton have made some changes...or not.

The routes shall remain the same (including 6.X) with the same frequency's but a new 6.0 will run as the short journeys between Belper and Derby which will increase to every 10 mins linking with routes 6.1 to 6.4

So all that's happened is the frequency of the main Derby to Belper route has increased to every 10 minutes? No increased frequency to Ripley or service to Kilburn? The consultation seems a bit pointless now, but I suppose there is some improvement with the increased Derby to Belper frequency. I wonder if there will be any new/newer buses coming on the route as the Scanias are now some of the oldest in the fleet.

That's basically it. No increase in frequency after Belper to Ripley and no service to Kilburn.
There are 3 extra buses for the sixes. Possibly ex villager Scanias. Roomers have it that the Rainbow one is due to get new buses and they will then come over to the sixes but nothing have been confirmed.

Maybe the consultation said that nobody wanted those changes but did want to keep the 6.X?

Yep a lot of furore over the withdrawl of the 6.X has led presumably to the network remaining as it is now. Quite a shock really as the third edition, just released of the trentbartonland map, shows the Sixes doing the Kilburn Circular on it!

All the branded Lilac Line 27s have left service prior to the introduction of biogas buses next month

Say goodbye to the last of the current style Lilac 27 branded double decks, ahead of brand new bio-gas buses being introduced on the route early next month. Our spare fleet of silver buses will be in use between #Carlton and City until they're introduced.

Certainly you will notice the Dunns in charge of both Rotala and Yours but as far as I can tell theyre separate companies still . Curiously nothing announced by Rotala to the stock exchange but what exactly do they have to disclose as an AIM company?

From the Companies House website, it can be seen that Scott Dunn resigned as a director of Dunn Motor Traction (YourBus) earlier this year. However, he is still the sole shareholder. Accounts for this company, and for Motorcoach Ltd, which he also owns, are overdue. Strike-off action has commenced for the latter; it was started but has stopped for the former.

As far as I know Yourbus haven't started any new services since they stopped running Derby - Alvaston, what happened to those buses? Although Yourbus certainly don't have 125 buses at Heanor!

Trent Barton having new ticket machines in September that will allow contactless payment. As part of the transition to the new machines top up of Mango will not be available on buses after 30th June until the new machines are installed. Mango can still be topped up online and at travel shops during this time. Trent Barton are promising lots of ‘new and exciting ways you can manage your Mango on the go’ when the new machines are installed. The excitement is too much, I really can’t wait. With reduction in discount since I first started using it from 20% down to 15% and recently down to just 10% and with the daily cap up from £5 to £5.85, I’m not sure that it will be that exciting.

With this about rotala could we see them doing away with the Preston bus trading name and maybe re brand the Preston depot as diamond or could we see some new services being operated as diamond out of the Preston depot and the Blackpool depot.

I’m also wondering if we could see the your bus name disappear and being Rebranding as diamond maybe as the Dunn brothers both seem to have a hand In both companies

Hello everybody, occasional lurker, frequent bus traveler who comes in peace.

What's the deal with indigo and i4 buses? The engine cuts out when picking up and dropping off passengers and the driver has to (seemingly) start the ignition again?

Is this some 'feature' that I fail to see? Having the bus vibrate every couple of minutes is rather jarring.

They are stop-start engines to save fuel and reduce emissions when stationary (i think when the parking brake is on) - many modern cars have had them for years

The engine cuts out when the parking brake is on, and doors are opened. Then restarts automatically when the doors are closed.

Imagine it cutting out at traffic lights with just the parking brake on.

Then the driver racing to get going again.

It's usually when the handbrake is applied, then is taken off - so it does happen at traffic lights.

Then again, some other vehicles do it - like my car!
