All of the remaining sides have entered the competition the proper way, they qualified through their league position from the previous season.
Indeed. And Liverpool/Tottenham etc don’t play in a league where half the teams are just there to make up the numbers. ;)

Horrendous afternoon for Leeds. Go 1-0 up. Miss a penalty. Wigan down to 10 men. Lose 1-2.

Fair play to Wigan for a great performance.

Now level on points with fellow promotion chasers, Sheffield United but they have a superior goal difference. 3 games left to play.

A tough one for Leeds on Monday away at Brentford.

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
Bolton Wanders 0 - 2 Aston Villa

Jack Grealish (47) and Tammy Abraham (57) scored in the second half to continue Villa's unbeaten run, with Villa being in 5th place on 72 points - 4 behind West Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion.

As there are 3 matches left of the regular season, this means that it is not possible to claim the second automatic promotion slot, nor is it possible to finish in third. It seems that it will be close regarding local bragging rights between the Villa and the Baggies.

Also, today's result means that Bolton Wanderers will be joining Ipswich Town in the third tier next season, assuming the Trotters do not go into liquidation.

Anyone want to make a prediction for today’s game?
I’m going 3-1 to City and hoping I’ll be wrong about it now that I’ve confidently predicted it on here.
Might go and put a bet on actually.

I don't know, I fancy United to win that one. Leicester might get hammered :p

A good win for the villa yesterday too, not looking forward to Leeds and Norwich as last two games of the season though - hopefully Norwich will already be basking in promotion by then. Millwall won't be easy either

All those 4 CL were exciting. Looked if the were no defenders. That City disallowed goal. The line between onside and offside was never been so close. My favorite football program said that the goal should have counted. No Kane and that Asian person. In NL we say that the ball is round and anything can happen. In advance we had no good feeling against Real Madrid and Juventus.

We scored a goal!

Not a terrible performance today, but again it shows the lack of quality that led to such a nightmare season. So close to being good enough, yet so far from it too.

With us down, Bradford City getting relegated yesterday, and Leeds looking like they might bottle it, it hasn't been a great year for West Yorkshire teams!

I disagree. We finished 15th last season. We've had an amazing season with basically the same team and a shed load of injuries. It has also been generally fantastic and enjoyable to watch.

You've definitely improved on the last few seasons, such that promotion was yours to throw away... one thing I've missed the last two seasons is being competitive in a division where anyone can beat anyone. The Championship is a much more entertaining competition than the PL, as you may find out if you manage to get up.

It was never really 'in the bag,' so I don't feel like we've thrown anything away. Our run-in always looked tougher than that of Sheffield United and we've not been truly comfortable in the automatic spots all season.

Well, we've flirted with success this season and we've already seen the downside, in terms of away ticket availability (didn't have any problem getting one against Histon, Hereford, or Southend midweek 3 seasons in a row...). Even home tickets are now strictly rationed to the point that as a season ticket holder for 21 years (admittedly with a gap after we got promoted from L1), I'm not even allowed to buy one extra ticket for a home game. We're well versed in silly kick off times due to Sky. We've got global media coverage and fanbase (Bielsa has improved this even more). I look at the PL and half the fixtures don't hold much interest. The only thing that interests me about the PL is the long term financial security it should deliver. If we somehow got promoted, my joy would be fleeting. Merely competing would be a struggle.

My main concern, wherever we end up this season is keeping Bielsa.

Darlington 1 Bradford 0 - I knew this was going to be a bad day when TPE cancelled the 0925 from Lime Street (it started short at Victoria). We were comfortable at 0-0 with neither side looking like scoring then our manager goes for broke gambling for three points and substitutes THREE midfielders who were all doing alright. Needless to say, we lost our shape and got tonked in the last twenty minutes. That five times Darlington have scored a crucial late goal against us in six matches - a real bogey team. With Chorley away next Saturday and needing to win to clinch the title, it looks like our play-off hopes are over.

So the gap between Avenue and City will only close to two divisions next season rather than one. But it used to be thirteen in 1988!

But the atmosphere was very unnatural waiting for VAR. It was just a pity the people at the match were not allowed to see the two big VAR incidents afterwards on the big screens.

It needs to be similar to how it's done in rugby and cricket in that the crowd get to see and hear (at cricket anyway) what the officials are see as they make a decision. Creates a little bit of a pantomime atmosphere and keeps the crowd involved instead of everyone simply waiting for the ref to reappear and wave his arm around to indicate the decision that's been made

Agree - it will help with the transparency.

Everton 2 Man Utd 0
United have really hit the skids
Beautiful Easter Sunday weather
My teams losing.
I’m off to work at 5pm.

One out of three ain’t bad I suppose.

The United faithful namely Incey is already questioning is Ole is the right man for the job.

The crisp munching idiot wants to see Mourinho back

(Shakes head in disbelief)

Did we manage a shot on goal?
I’m not holding my breath on that one.

85th minute. Played like a team already relegated. McTominay only one to show passion.

Just when I thought we couldn't sink to a new low this year...

Feel free to come to the championship where managers change more often than haircuts

And you've still to come to the John Smith's...:lol::lol::lol::lol: ;)

Your guys, even in your position, showed far more desire than anyone in a pink shirt this afternoon.

(With the possible exception of McTominay who for me is the midfielder to build around, not Pogba, yes I may be mad.)

I can vaguely remember Paul Ince having a managerial spell with Blackburn Rovers.
Needless to say, he did not really set the heather alight there and was very quickly given the chop.

Cardiff 0-2 Liverpool.

Goals from Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner (penalty) earned us the three points this afternoon. The latter came on to replace substitute Fabinho, who was withdrawn from the game after a clash of heads. Hopefully he'll be alright, and I feel it was definitely the correct decision to bring him off.
