Now that is a difficult question to answer without sounding conceited. I swear down I am not conceited, I am from Liverpool (L18) and have supported Liverpool for all of the 44 years of my life. This is just about the best team we have had. We are tiny fractions away from winning anything we want. Perhaps all we are missing is a proper superstar in Midfield but the people who play there are already really good. Almost any team in the world would take them. Barcelona really don't want to play us. The only problem we had this season has been that Man City were almost perfect. And they still lost more games than us.

The weird thing about this year's PL is the complete lack of quality everywhere except at Liverpool and Man City (Tottenham perhaps get an honourable mention but they have fallen away sharply). Both have remarkable points totals. Losing the league with 90+ points...it's like Liverpool are cursed if that happens.

Season over for Darlo with a 1-1 draw with leanington. It is also the final game in charge for manager Tommy Wright. Although critical of him as a manager I am really sad that it hasnt worked out for such a decent bloke. It must be rare to be happy a manager has left but ungappy it dodnt work for the man.

Sadly results count and finishing 16th on 50 points was not acceptable

Hyde United in their return to the Evo Stik Premier League finished in a creditable tenth position in a league that had some very good teams, but they lost far more home games at Ewen Fields than they normally do in a league season.

A creditable result. I was surprised to see Farsley Celtic win the league over South Shields although I wont complain if South Sheilds fail in the play offs as they are a "backed" team who will fish for the same players as us and can outspend us. Obviously Falsely taking Nathan Cartman and David Syers of Darlington explains their success ;) You will also get Morpeth next season who also have cash. They are apparently looking to take players from Bylth who are in our division!

The demise of North Ferribly is a sad note for that division.

Highland League

Fort William 1 ... Wick Academy 5

Fort William's record now reads P34 ... W0 D2 L32 ... GF 21 GA 245 ... Pts -7.
Worryingly that's one more goal scored than Huddersfield Town, and in fewer games. Not sure if Jan's the man to stabilise us in the Championship next season now, his lack of experience is a worry.

Dirty Leeds taking a page out of the Small Heath book. Doesn't help when the ref is constantly looking the other way. Might as well take off his black shirt and go for Leeds white

Edit: Fuming. I can post what I want to lest I fall foul of the swear filter

Edit 2: Better although it's a total farce. Doesn't nullify all their dirty tactics for the rest of the game. All of the momentum has gone

Edit 3: 1-1 at full time. That red card needs to be overturned. I just hope we can recover for the playoffs

Ridiculous.

Villa spent all game cheating, diving and assaulting our players. The ref was ridiculous in his favouring of Villa and particularly princess Grealish.

We gave you a goal after you assaulted at least one of our players, which was shown to be a poor decision when Villa continued to cheat for the rest of the game.

Good ol local side Leicester duffing up the Arsenal 3-0.
Didn’t see that coming.
Man City 1-0 up against Burnley so atm knocking Liverpoo off top.
We do over Chelsea (fingers & everything else crossed) & United are 4th.
And Bottas beating numpty Hamilton too.
Not a bad Sunday so far.

Surely you cannot be talking about El Ghazi on Bamford?

Bamford wasn’t assaulted. He faked being hit.

Regardless of what went on during the rest of the game, Leeds are a disgrace for playing on, a disgrace with Bamford, and a disgrace for whoever your utter tool of a centre half is who tried to prevent Villa scoring.

Haven’t seen the whole game so I can’t decide if Villa were a disgrace too. Hope neither of you go up anyway.

There were numerous instances in that melee.

Both sides were as bad as each other. It's funny because you talk about Villa cheating and the ref favouring them, yet he missed the blatant foul on Kodija that sparked the whole situation in the first place. Then he sent one of their players off because your player cheated.

I just cannot understand Tyler Roberts, it genuinely looked as if he was going to put the ball out. It doesn't reflect well on the game as a whole because of the way it panned out but it was made even worse because they had just put the ball out for one of your lads when on the attack.

By this point Villa had dived 3 times in our box, so perhaps they only had themselves to blame for ‘crying wolf.’

The referee was woeful but the Villa players decided to take things into their own hands rather than respect the fact that the referee had awarded a goal.

1) Yep, it's always wrong to score in the way Leeds did. The winger half stopped, and looked to be about to kick the ball out, and then play it down the line. That's why your manager instructed you to concede one on purpose.

2) It's always wrong to feign being hit by an opponent to get them sent off.

3) It's always wrong to try and stop a player scoring a "given" goal by gentleman's agreement.

I've no idea if Villa were cheating as much as you were, but even so, you were just engaging in whataboutery. It's as ridiculous as saying "Ha yeah, Maradona punched the ball in the goal but did you know England tried to dive to get a penalty earlier in the game?"

It's always wrong to do the above three things - what Leeds did - in those three minutes.

You play to the whistle.

Don’t try and enforce the rules of the game physically yourselves and you won’t get caught out, simple.

3rd was miscommunication and it’s not wrong when the team you are playing do nothing but cheat, dive, simulate injuries and try get your players booked all game. Being gentlemanly should work both ways.

According to Leeds logic this is a dive but this is not a dive.

Feigning to kick the ball out and then not doing so is an unsporting move given we had done it earlier in the game. I agree we should have played to the whistle though - that guidance was brought in to stop the age old question of whether or not you should kick the ball out when a player is down and has worked pretty well.

Yet all this happened in a game that is basically inconsequential unless both teams make the playoff final

I'm not disputing the Bamford theatrics, but that was one incident from Leeds compared to your multiple. You fully deserved to have a man sent off for 3 of your players mobbing (and assaulting) Klich after a legitimate goal was scored. Unfortunately, the wrong person got sent off, but that's what happens when you start taking the law into your own hands. So I'm not exactly gushing with sympathy on this occasion.

I've only seen it once and in real-time, but I don't think it was a feignt, I think he was genuinely caught in two minds and then decided to go for it when the crowd egged him on. I don't blame the crowd as there was a lot of perceived injustice up to that point. And as I've already said; you play to the whistle. The ref could have stopped the game but chose not to. Perhaps he too was sick of cynical time-wasting injuries.

Anyway, actual football; I was worried about playing Villa today due to the run they were on, but I don't think they were anything special so I'm much more relaxed about meeting them in the play-offs now. We've got a good record against all the teams currently in the play-offs although obviously anything can happen. Quite looking forward to it. Ipswich first though :)

Good to see Sheffield United deny Leeds automatic promotion.

They're not known as Dirty Leeds for nothing

Good to see Leeds have an honourable manager on this occasion though, but I am sure in years gone by Leeds would have been happy to have won in disgrace.
According to Leeds logic...
Logic doesn't come into it!

Or was it Norwich ;) Actually, it was neither, we only have ourselves to blame for that one.

I'm happy for Sheffield United. I get free tickets to their games :) Have a bit of a soft spot for them. They play attractive football.

Nobody apart from you seems to have picked up on the bit where we sportingly let the opposition walk the ball into our net to make amends.

We wouldn't have won in disgrace, we were the better team and did a lot less cheating ;)

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk won this year's PFA Player of the Year award, with van Dijk notably being the first defender to win the award since 2005.

Congratulations to Luton Town gaining Championship status after a long time away. As Eric Morecambe would say, "RUBBISH!"

Barnsley and Bury also gained promotion due to other results in their favour...

Peculiarly for this season, of the teams in the league that have so far clinched promotion, only Lincoln have confirmed it with their own result!
