Interesting. Section 2.7 mentions re-assessments and only having to retake the parts you failed as long as it’s within 5-years of the previous assessment? Does that not indicate that all passes regardless of TOC should be valid for 5-years? I can’t see anywhere it saying that TOC policies may differ etc? Just an observation.

5 years is the guideline but it’s up to individual TOCs the timeframe they accept.
Many TOCs often accept newer passes only, probably because there’s a chance your passes may expire whilst going through the process or waiting for a start date, particularly if a TOC uses Talent Pools.

I understand this is generally the norm, but I was surprised the document doesn’t stipulate that. As I said, it was just an observation as I know how it works (my TOC is the one of a limited few who seems to only work to a 3-year rule I’ve noticed over the passed couple of years).

I failed my MMI immediately after DayDr3am3r passed his (not that I’m bitter lol). It hit me really hard. I was really low for a good couple of weeks, but have slowly come out of it.
I called opc and asked for feedback. It does take them weeks, but they do call. I found out that I ‘failed’ on the last question. I knew I could have answered better and could probably have passed if I said what I thought about later. Although it was gutting to hear it was actually more positive to find out. I now know that although it’s far from easy, I can pass it. I will try again when the opportunity arises.
In the mean time I’m trying for a conductor post. I have a short notice offer for the second assessment for that which is what I was trying to research tonight (without much luck). I think this would be a good job in itself as well as giving me a much greater insight and opportunity to apply for a trainee driver post again in the future.
I know how you feel. It’s a big emotional investment/risk putting yourself through the process again, but I think you do have to go for it. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

That must have been horrible but congrats on keeping your chin up, getting OPC feedback and applying for another railway related job to better your future chances. You obviously want the job enough, so you'll pass next time!

Hi all, I failed my first MMI in 2013, did all the tests and MMI again in 2015 and passed those, but didn’t pass the DMI
Kept applying for positions and was eventually offered a main line position last June, and am due to pass out within the next couple of months after starting training last November. It took a while but I was determined to get my dream career and got there in the end.
Never give up if you want it bad enough!!

Quick question regarding the MMI:

Could someone with experience put the below areas in order of importance in the eyes of the interviewer.

1 - health and safety
2 - adherence to policy
3 - customer service
4 - communication

Passed my assessments with SWR last week so hopefully will have a MMI soon.

Thanks for any help in advance and apologies for thread hijack.

I would probably put communication higher up. Thing with the mmi is they will ask specific questions , such as tell me a time you had to communicate effectively with others . You shouldn't need to focus on customer service . Another question could possibly be , tell me a time you went above and beyond helping a customer , so then you focus on customer service.

Evening all
Am I correct in thinking the MMI is initially a written test and an interview is created based on my answers ?

The written bit is just to let you think of your answers for the actual interview.

Is the 6 months wait for retaking any part of the assessment/mmi, is that from the first assessment date or the part that you failed which in my case was the MMI which was done a month later (I assume it’s the latter which makes more sense)
