Does anybody know what current and historical fast services operates by class 455s? Such as any regular runs on fast lines into Waterloo or Victoria? Would be very interesting to know as they their traction motors do make quite a scream when rushing Past at top speed.

Southern used to run a morning peak Victoria-Horsham via Sutton as a 455. It ran fast from Clapham to Sutton, as well as Dorking to Horsham. We only reached 73mph but it was a good run.

When 455s ended up on a Reading, 70mph was possible between Ascot and Sunningdale/ Sunningdale and V.Water, between Staines and Feltham, and 60mph between Richmond and Clapham.

There are a couple of peak Hampton Courts which run Waterloo-Surbiton-TD-Hampton Court, straight down the fasts but they're all retractioned now.

Not a 455 but a 456, when they ran the morning Richmond, Guildford, they did Egham to Ascot nonstop and would run at 70.

Still a fair number of SWR services that use the fast lines between Surbiton and Waterloo.

2F82 0543 Woking to London Waterloo (8-455)

Probably some I have missed, plenty of ECS movements that use the fast line too.

I think (not sure) the hourly Horsham to Victoria via Dorking used to be wholly 455s, though it appears to have been (at least off peak on a Saturday) solely 377s in recent years. In recent years (not sure about since the recent timetable change though) that ran fast from Sutton to Clapham, though not sure whether it did in the days of regular 455s.

Again, historically, certainly in the 80s and 90s, the Guildford via Cobham to Waterloo services always ran fast Surbiton-Wimbledon-Clapham-Waterloo, presumably on the fast lines. These became 455s in 1984.

Caterham/Tattenham Corner dividers in the late 80s appeared to be a mixture of 455s and EPBs, and they all ran fast (during the peak) from London Bridge to Norwood Junction.

Back in about 2004 I was spinning around in the London area, and a pair of 455's (still with the original 3+2 low back seating back then) substituted for a pair of VEP's on a Waterloo - Haslemere and return. I didn't travel on it, but do remember that the return working was pretty much on time as it was a platform 7 stopper at Clapham Junction.

1955 London Bridge - Epsom, 2045 Epsom - London Bridge, 2155 London Bridge - Epsom and 2245 Epsom - London Bridge is, or was, an 8-455 diagram - all fast London - Norwood and vv.
