I cannot get a result for this journey on the TPE website, but can on LNWR and Trainsplit.

No fares have been found for your selected service.

A bit hesitant to go ahead and book on a different site in case it's TPE that are correct and there's some disruption planned for that day.

Might it be that the new timetables have not yet been uploaded on the TPE website?

Rather than the timetables, I think it's a problem with tickets having the 'NOT VIA MANCHESTER' routeing not being shown.

e.g., it shows the times ok for intermediate stops on a Liverpool to Stafford ticket, or from Birkenhead to Crewe. It also shows Liverpool to Runcorn and Runcorn to Crewe separately.

Checked National Rail Enquiries site & i've had no problems, it's a normal service no disruption planned, £11.60 off peak day return[£7.65 with a railcard], don't think your going to get it any cheaper.

After the fares change (19th) the fares will become 'via Runcorn' fares - it seems to be those that don't work (On Transpennine , GWR, Redspottedhanky)

I've noticed that too, same for tickets for Crewe-Liverpool Lime Street. So what happens to ticket validity on a blockade when trains are diverted via Warrington as last Christmas, when the ticket has via Runcorn printed as surely there should then be an easement applied so it's valif via Warrington?

I can do it for £6.80 (with railcard) by splitting (and changing trains) at Runcorn but it’s a 22 minute wait. Funny that Crewe to Runcorn only brings up Virgin tickets.

Might as well go with that then.

I've seen this sort of thing before. WebTIS has its own list of route codes. The list isn't updated promptly when routes are added or amended, and it ignores tickets with a route which isn't on its list.

You can see this if you select a journey with a choice of routes such as Chester-Liverpool South Parkway. Click on "show slower routes", and it gives you "via Birkenhead" and "via Warrington" (as well as "ANY - PERMITTED"), but not "via Runcorn".

When I saw that the route was changing, I assumed it was something like that.
Oddly, though, not all WebTIS sites - Hull Trains is working.

Haha, Hull Trains isn’t the first website you would think of for a Crewe to South Parkway ticket!

I am rapidly going off TPE (it doesn’t remember my cards even though I tick the box every time - even when scanning the card I still have to manually enter the start and expiry dates), so may change to Hull if I can get on with it.

Bought the Virgin + LNWR tickets yesterday, I have never got off a train at Runcorn so the chance will be a bonus!
