It would have to be cancelled wouldn't it?
Surely safety features such as CDL are dependent on ETH?
I can't recall the date that the air con/central door lock mark 2 started on the valleys but I'm fairly sure that non ETH locos worked after that date. I am 100% certain that Virgin Crosscountry used no heat locos of various classes on their trains and the central door locking worked fine all the way from Plymouth or Paignton to Birmingham.

Ah but will they though? The Mark 2s used by Greater Anglia are in my opinion, a horrible dirty state.

Not sure it will be those ones as TfW are hiring-in 37s from Colas rather than DRS, I'm not sure they'll use DRS coaches. Of course they may well do, but hopefully there's time at least for a refresh - the ones in Anglia Railways colours look really grotty!

They're using Riveria Trains MK2s, which are even worse!

CDL runs off the batteries, but without ETH you have no battery charging.

Reported elsewhere that 37419 will also be available for these services so with 3 ETH syphons, less chance of something NB working.

(NB = No Boiler; the term being somewhat outdated when we are talking about what might work a set of aircons, but old habits die hard.)

Looks as though an evening trip with a drink and meal at the Farmers Arms could be good!

Seen today at Canton:

Does the yellow stripe on the rear three carriages indicate first class?

Looks like Brake Standard Open, First Open, First Open, Restaurant First Buffet.

Though as pointed out not the service formation, though First Class comfort and a buffet would probably be welcomed by many! ;)

This are only a "scratch" set for training purposes. Riviera stock will be provided for the actual passenger services

As it's going to be 37+4 coaches, presumably we'll see BSO-TSO-TSO-TSO or possibly the BSO in the middle with van to the centre?

What do you do if it's found that the ETH on one of the locos has failed before departure from Rhymney one morning? Run empty and leave people behind with severe overcrowding on following services or run loaded but a bit stuffy?

Not the greatest suggestion I've come up with but what about leaving the vestibule doors open and the door windows open? It shouldn't be too bad as the 37's do 80/90mph, + with short gaps between stops you shouldn't get too much of a draft.

0724 & 0742 down Rhymney - Cardiff and 1701 and 1731 up Cardiff - Rhymney.
So no top and tailing.

I wonder how passengers will react come January when for 7.5 months they will have had spacious, air conditioned trains for their commute, but in January presumably they'll be getting 769s without air con and cramped 3+2 seating.
The 769s will be seen as a step down compared to the Mk2 coaches

Sorry to ask but is their anything on the TfW website about these running as 37's with Mk2's? I don't want to bug them on Twitter via a DM as they may say it's not been confirmed.

No, nothing on the TfW website and I doubt TfW will be publicly advertising the 37+Mk2 services.
But the info comes from reliable sources who work for TfW on a facebook group and from other forums, including this one.

I can confirm that a 37 and four coaches ran tonight. I joined a small group of enthusiasts on the platform in Bargoed.
