I am wondering if there is any Qualified Drivers for TPE or maybe any other Qualified drivers on this forum who may be able to assist with some queries I have.

I am aware that the company in question are looking for qualified drivers for a talent pool for various locations.
Could any one comment on what is the companies position on applicants who have incidents on their records as the vacancy does not state. I have seen most companies state clean or clean for a period time (Years) before applying but TPE has not. Obviously I am aware you need to fill in a Safety of the line form.
  • If any applicants have history on their records would the company allow you to apply and be considered.
  • Is there any applicants to TPE in this position and have been successful?
  • Regarding the Safety of line form, when do you have to notify current employer, do they have to sign this form or something before you send it to TPEs HR or are they notified when you are offered a position.
  • Regarding talent pools in general, if your in a pool, this does not guarantee employment, is this correct?
I apologies and thank you in advance. I understand there is a lot of information here requested. I have heard mixed stories on the grape vine so I am trying to establish the facts in order to asses my position. Many thanks.

TPE will accept drivers with incidents on their record, you must declare this on your transfer of safety form which you fill in at the time of application, I believe this needs to be verified and signed off by your current line manager before you submit it.

Recently most drivers who make it to the talent pool have been offered jobs, the wait at my depot from being put into the pool until being offered a job was about 3 months according to people who have started recently.

I would say things like over shoots fail to call you will be ok. Spad or tpws interventions etc probably not

Drivers have been taken on with these incidents on their records, I know a couple. It's all about how you dealt with and learned from it. Multiple incidents of the above however would be difficult to sell to a prospective employer.

Thanks for this information.
Just two more things if I may - You stated your Transfer of Safety form may have to be signed off by your line manager before submitted and in the application process when your asked to download the form, It states they wont notify your current employer until you have been offered a position with the company. Can you clarify this please as I am thinking your Transfer of safety form gets signed and approved by your current employer at a later date by TPE not the applicant.

Also, if any driver applying are in a drivers plan, would this also hinder any applications.

I've never had a atoc B1 signed at the point of application. It's generally forwarded on upon offer to clarify what you have written is true

I must be mistaken about having it signed, being on a drivers development plan wont exclude you but depending on what it's for it won't really help you either. My advice would be apply, disclose all the details and see what happens.

I’m also considering applying for this, I currently work for Northern and I was just wondering how conditions compare? Do TPE drivers have decent conditions? What is maximum movement when spare? Do they treat drivers well in general? If anyone would be willing to reply or PM me I’d be very grateful.

I also worked for Northern before I moved to TPE, things are slightly different rostering wise with sheets posted 7 days on advance with a final sheet posted 48hrs in advance. Spare movement is 3hrs either way. I really like it, the jobs are so much better than the ones I had at Northern, trains are obviously miles better and well looked after in comparison. With the latest pay rise we're now on £58K and there is also plenty of opportunity to work days off. For me it was the best move I ever made and I'm considerably happier, yes there are still bits that annoy you but in my opinion it's a move worth making.

One of our lads is jumping ship and mentioned that rosters were 27 weeks or something so could map out his year. Could've completely misheard hence it being a question
