As well as the above mentioned Euro 5 Streetlites, it isn't uncommon to see some of the older B7s and B9s in Edinburgh, in my experience.

I thought everything had been swapped around to only have the newest stock go into Edinburgh? im still surprised some of the Streets are Euro5!

was meant as a wind up ...
how about the "keep Edinburgh moving" slogan whilst servicing Blackridge to Livingston :)

Just like buses that at one time wore "First Edinburgh" fleetnames.....while operating in places nowhere near Edinburgh...

38 still has occasional non-Streetlites for obvious reasons. Maybe they'll get the hint one day and replace them with proper buses that aren't so unreliable for such a long distance route.

If you believe the political stance of emissions being far worse in highly populated urban areas then you'll understand why it doesn't bother me so much that the 04 plate are running around West Lothian, even if they were/are euro3.

The thing that interests me is that what Lothian are doing with these B7RLE's is the exact thing you always complain at First for doing. (Repainting a end of life bus but ignoring the Interior).

I can only speak as a glasgow boy having used FiG many times over yet driving many of LB’s 04 plates and traveling on them also, even with a repaint those 04 plates are in better shape than many of Firsts 07, 08 and 09 plates, check out the rivet work on this Midland Bluebird Eclipse just above the back seats, won't find that nonsence on a LB.

As much as I'm led to believe these will be place holders for something newer in the future.

That's a WCM motor...
WCM are reported as having recently returned V526/7/8/9 ESC to their original registrations. There is a shot of 529 online freshly repainted in red before leaving the fleet.
I suspect there is a good chance all four will be heading in the same direction.

The 04 plates have exhaust modifications so they match the same emissions standards as those 14 plate Streetlites you mention... (Euro5)

106 I seen today on X17 was belching black smoke all through the range of the engine . It was obvious that others in cars around it were allowing it to get well ahead of them too

Seems to work in Dublin with three different firms.

To be honest it never really worked with three companies in Dublin, when Dublin Coach (Cityscape) came in it was first launched as a luxury service using coaches but then morphed into a low cost service using very tired Plaxton President / Tridents at a knock down price undercutting Dublin Bus (DoDublin) and Dualway Irish City Tours (CitySightseeing) with both of the yields falling, particularly CitySightseeing. Cityscape suffered from having a much older fleet than the rest with the timetable and operational season being reduced every year, Dublin Coach have that reputation though for sweating their assets even more than First do!

Last year Big Bus bought up Irish City Tours who still had some time on their City Sightseeing contract to run, so until very recently City Sightseeing and Big Bus Dublin tickets were fully interchangeable. However the contract came to an end at the end of April and as such Big Bus Dublin no longer take CitySightseeing tickets.

City Sightseeing now have signed up a partnership arrangement with Dublin Bus (DoDublin) who are now accepting their tickets. However it has been reported that Cityscape have been bought out and the new owner has secured a contract from City Sightseeing to operate the services on their behalf from the month of June, in full CitySightseeing livery.

So in bizarre fashion, in the space of a couple of months, all three tour operators in Dublin at some point in that time would have been acting as the City Sightseeing tour for Dublin.

I always thought it was odd in Edinburgh though that there was all those different branded tours which were all Lothian at the end of the day even if they looked like they were not, First getting City Sightseeing will bring some much needed competition.

Just off a B7RLE on the 88, what a shoddy, rank mess of a bus!

Held together with rivets!

What a joke of a company, right alongside Stagecoach..

Hmm, you've just exposed yourself as a liar.... How can the same vehicle be on the 88 while also operating Midland Bluebird services!

Lol... Fires happen, but given what you just said this is quite entertaining!

There is a touch more copy on the FSE website overthewater (under news section), but lacks any real detail - indicates all will be revealed next month.

On July 1st 2019, First Bus embarks on an exciting new chapter to deliver an experience that will create unforgettable memories and leave a lasting impression on the city.

A bold, new, brand identity has been created specifically for this and will be unveiled next month in the capital (you won’t be able to miss it).

However, an industry insider said: “First Bus are planning open-top tours in Edinburgh. The buses are being prepared in Glasgow at the moment.”

That insider is either liar or idiot.. The buses are in Larbert...

That was two weeks ago, however the insider is saying buses are being prepared in Glasgow: which there not, its Larbert in the workshops..
