Hi all,

Can anyone let me know if current employees of a TOC are eligible for a priv / PTAC oyster card?

If so, what is the procedure to get one.

Thanks

If you're safeguarded (started before 1st April 1996) yes. You can get Rail Staff Travel to email you authorisation to take to an Underground station to get them to put the discount on an Oystercard. Be careful with Zip (child) ones - they need to put the staff discount on it - not the nominee discount, otherwise it won't work

Non safeguarded staff working for all TOCs are entitled to the National Rail only Priv discount on Oyster. This gives 75% off Oyster fares on National Rail services in the Oyster area. More information available on the RDG website.

If working for GTR, Eurostar or LNER, an additional LU/TfL only Priv discount can be set onto an Oyster card. In return TfL staff get;

Priv rate GTR season tickets and free travel though the core
Heavily discounted Eurostar tickets through MyTfL
Priv rate LNER season tickets

If other TOCs want to procure Priv rate on TfL services for their staff, they'll have to negotiate some sort of deal with TfL.
