Here we take a walk to the nearby Emmerdale Studio experience, only to find it closed at 5, so we sadly have to turn around. Back at the bus stop, we board the 21:08 First Halifax, Calder Valley & Huddersfield service 508 to Stump Cross, opp Godley Lane/Shibden Park Garage, arriving at 22:01 Saturday evening.

With respect, I don't know why you thought the Emmerdale Studios would still be open at 8 o'clock on a Saturday evening

We then board the 2226 First Bradford service 682 to Bradford (Manchester Road/Spring Mill Street), arriving there at 2258 on Saturday evening.

Is it compulsory to keep using the same 43 (24 hour) bus service until the end time that the overnight travel relaxation rule applies.....or can we wait a few hours until the end of that time period arrives.....especially as Sunday services are not as frequent as Monday to Saturday normally?

Personally, I think it is pointless to shuttle back and forth over the same bus route overnight. I would take advantage of the overnight relaxation rule if there isn't another bus route.

I must admit I did try and use an alternative service other than the 43 upon arrival at Palatine Road, as the 103 also runs two hours later from around the corner. So I also agree with the above sentiments.

I will try my best, remembering the large Manchester University student lodgings area and the late night Saturday night/Sunday morning buses.....

We next board the 0211 Stagecoach Manchester service 142 to Withington (Old Broadway on Wilmslow Road) that arrives there at 0230 on Sunday morning.

We decide to take advantage of the overnight travel relaxation rule and take the five minute walk to stop G at Kingway lay-by where we await the first available Sunday morning bus service, that being the 0637 Stagecoach Manchester service 50 to Manchester (stop SO on Portland Street) that arrives there at 0700 on Sunday morning.

Not a lot seems to be happening here on a Sunday, so we return on the 1230 Rosso Tottington Line service 469 to Bury (East Lancs Railway), arriving there at 1241 on Sunday afternoon.

We are indeed fortunate that we are in time to travel on the East Lancashire Railway's 1940's weekend of the correct timetable colour coding, so we enter the Bury Bolton Street station and catch the 1300 service to Irwell Vale station that arrives there at 1327 on Sunday afternoon.

The X41 runs along the main road nearby, but the bus stops are just over half a mile away so that eliminates the use of that service, so instead we remain on this delightful railway and return on the 1402 East Lancs Railway service to Heywood, arriving there at 1458 on Sunday afternoon.
