I been told the situation with transfering fire brigade pensions might have recently changed and you are no longer allowed to transfer them outside of the public sector. Id be interested to know if anyone has managed to do this within the last year.

Correct. That was the information I was given also as I looked to transfer 11 years Fire Service Pension across. Non-transferrable.

Just spoke to the pensions department in my brigade. He said that we can transfer our pensions into a defined benefit pension scheme. Just need to find out if the toc would allow me to transfer in.

Sorry to hijack, but I’m also a firefighter looking for a career change.

A similar forum was a huge help in gaining a firefighter position, so hoping to use this for information and guidance. Thank you to the admin team.

Please excuse my ignorance, but can how often do EMT recruit? What is the shift pattern like?

I’m based in Nottingham, so is EMT the only one I should be looking at? Or are there any others I could work from Nottingham station with?

I’ve just missed the Northamptonshire recruitment. So hoping to jump on the next one.
