Road/Land Trains, call them what you will, are still a fairly common sight across mainland Europe, but I was wondering if there were still many in regular use across Britain? Looking at documents online, it sounds like there are a lot of hoops for operators to have to jump through to get them authorised over here these days. The only one I know of off the top of my head is Stagecoach’s ‘Dotto’ service in Eastbourne, which is run with a pair of 2007-registered tractor units with three trailers each, plus an older set in reserve/store.

One ran in Weston super Mare (off road) however it's latest operator ceased last year so I don't know if anything is running this year.

There are quite a few i'm sure. My home town of Llandudno has two routes

A quick Google - land train UK brings in plenty as well as info on Ivo Dotto. Even the NRM has one

There’s one in Exmouth, and I’m sure I’ve seen others down here.

Edit - beaten to it by ajs.
The Exmouth one was definitely running last year.

(I clicked on this thread hoping to see a huge Mack with roo bars on the front pulling three massive trailers through the Outback.)

Hengisterbury Head Noddy Train in Dorset, Running between the main car park and Mudeford Spit. Run for 50 years by the Faris Family without a single accident . Bounemouth council take over and the service has not run since the end of October last year after a crash. Replaced with a minibus

Why were they allowed to run it so long with if they had an accident on every run?

One operates daily (Weather permitting) in Stonehaven just south of Aberdeen. Never tried it, but seen it a number of times.

Angus Council operate one in Arbroath, it’s usually empty. Out of interest does anyone know what driving license category you require for a road train... C+E? D+E?

1990 - Gateshead Garden Festival had a "Dotto" service that went between Riverside and the southern entrance. IIRC there were seven units available most days. Tractor and up to seven trailers (last one had a "guard"). There was a smaller version that puttered to & fro between the overspill carpark and the Riverside site entrance.

Been a while since I took that shot! Latterly there has been a different road train in use, I probably have a picture somewhere, but it has been absent on the last couple of visits.
Aye, the FiG Scania dates it just a little bit lol Ah I see; cheers for the update. As I say, I've not visited Balloch & the Lomond Shores for some time now, so am not quite up to speed on things like this. Need to reacquaint myself with the area sooner rather than later lol

Torquay now has two Land Trains. The original red one operates on a circular route around the town, the new green one commenced a couple of years ago and links Torquay with Cockington Village.

Bournemouth land train runs April-October along the promenade from Boscombe to Bournemouth pier and from Bournemouth pier to Branksome Chine.
