May I ask, does anyone here have, or knows anyone who may have, a video of the last HST leaving Oxford on the service to Hereford last night? I was on that service, poking my head out of the window (as the train left - never had my head poking out of a moving train before!) and hearing the horn and seeing the people on the platform all standing there just because it was a HST was quite something. I'd love to see a video of that moment.

Yes, I do. Too large to upload on here though. Message me and I’ll endeavour to get it to you.

They were giving out window labels free to people watching on P1.

I'll be honest - I was in tears. It's all a bit emotional. So many memories.

I watched the final few depart Paddington. To given credit to GWR, they did a good job of giving them a proper sendoff, all lined up together on platforms 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Just wished I'd known about the final diagrams sooner and got myself a ticket on the 18:30 to Taunton. Proper enforcement at the barriers to Platform 4, BTP and all, you weren't getting on if you didn't have a seat reservation. More than mildly ironic given the number of people standing at commuter time! ;)

It's inappropriate for me to share my gripes with the IEP on this thread, but, needless to say, it's the end of an era.

As with Concorde's final flight in 2003, the HST feels like a museum piece like no other - an engineering marvel, unparalleled to this day.

I'll leave you with a photo I took after a wedding in Somerset last year, sat up in the field watching a few HSTs pass through Castle Cary before my return to Paddington.

On the 1600 Bristol-Paddington the Guard was selling the 'Last day of HST services' window label for a £10 donation to DiabetesUk.
On the last one up from Swansea staff at the buffet were giving out window stickers from the buffet counter if you asked, for free - well in my case with a BLT sandwich! This was just the standard calling pattern notice, but when I looked closely the mall print at the bottom indicated it was a special print run for that date and that train so a good souvenir.

The actor Michael Sheen got on this train at Cardiff. Not sure if this was co-incidence or if he was keen to get his own window sticker.8-)

Short formed HST in fgw blue livery heading north passed Peterborough at 12.30. Rear car with white mtu plate.

That was lucky to get a sandwich on it and seeing the great actor Micheal Sheen. I got my last day window label on an inbound HST to Paddington.

I was lucky enough to have been in the cab of 43188 for part of the journey on the 18.30 on Saturday. A truly memorable experience!

Having looked through the videos I took during the 18th, I've just found out that 43009 (the 43 at the Hereford end of the last HST to Hereford) was carrying a "Last Day of HST Operation on the Great Western Railway" window label in the left-hand side cab window - a nice touch from GWR there! Were all of the power cars carrying a window label? Looking at my photos of 43185 (on the Hereford service as well), I can't see one.

No as 43093 and 43188 didn’t have them. I was on these sets and they were selling them onboard however.

Oh OK. I knew that they were selling the window labels on the services, but I didn't get one on the day and so a visit to that famous shop eBay will be required" :)

We're you in K16 by any chance? I got off at Bristol so you might have ended up in my seat :D

On the subject of the video, I like it. I spoke to Geoff briefly both on the platform and on the train, he's really nice guy. The side of my head appears in it too when he's at the buffet :p
Yes, that was me, thanks for keeping it warm for me!

I was on platform 4. This just went out before my train. Let's see if this works. I am not a pooter bod.

Sticking vids up will be tricky.
Hi,

Does anyone know the 2+4 HST diagrams for this Sunday (3rd) please? Many thanks
Don't know. I do know that I have just spent $75 to reinvent my photobucket account, just so I can stick the odd vid/pic up.

PB has changed since I last used it. How do I post a vid up these days?
