There is one of sorts, I think. Will try and dig out the details.
‘North of England 4 in 8-day Rover’
Liverpool-Manchester (all stations)-Leeds (and on to Hull) for £79

‘North of England City Experience 4 in 8-day Rover’
As above but includes York (and on to Newcastle) for £99.

Valid only on TPE, not before 09:30 weekdays. Railcard discounts apply.

Details here:
https://www.tpexpress.co.uk/special-offers/north-of-england-rover

Unfortunately, nothing that includes York-Scarborough (or later Middlesbrough).

Hope that helps:)

The prices look quite reasonable to me, especially compared with pay on the day tickets.

Many thanks. One wonders why with so many tables it was still not possible to ensure that the seats line up with the windows!

Twice as many bogs as a 185!

That's good to see, more tables than needed though, perhaps?

I think if we are seeing a shift to using time productively on the train, more table seats = more room for laptops/tablets for work/film-watching/game-playing...it's only fair they enable it. As the Voyagers exemplify, doing that in an airline seat is significantly more difficult!

Enabling that is another plus versus coach or car travel, which is good to help justify the premium of train travel. So I guess it makes sense for most of the day, even if it does marginally reduce seating capacity during the peaks.

Least I now know to try & use Coach A wherever possible to get a non-table seat. Being a big guy (tall & fat) makes it irritating to get in/out of table seats (esp stopper services to Dewsbury where half the train decamps there). Thankfully the commute from Leeds to Huddersfield isn't too bad and I'll finally have a seat!

I think they've tried to strike a balance: the predominance of airline seats in the DT makes that vehicle ideal for those doing shorter trips such as from Huddersfield to Leeds or Victoria, Manchester to Liverpool, and Leeds-York. Just a shame that it'll be at the far end of platforms at Huddersfield!

I’m thinking the same. The table seats on a 185 are not fun if sitting opposite someone over 6ft. Being 6”4 myself I usually end up with horrible cramp by the end of my journey between Leeds and Manchester.

My own prejudice against airline seats stem from being a 6’3’’ Crosscountry Voyager commuter. As such, I have always preferred tables.

Having experienced the superior leg-room of the IET on GWR (albeit with harder seats), I am becoming a convert to the airline seat. I wonder whether a standard of a 50/50 split would please everyone? The IET, with 8 tables per standard coach and decent leg-room throughout, seems to me to be a happy medium.

IET for XC, anyone?

Not looking good for this evening’s Nova 3 planned trips over the Pennines (5E68/5P68): 5F68 Crewe to Eccles is cancelled:(

Interesting point this. I always wondered whether utopia TPE stock would be 5 car trains with 1/3rds doors and higher density seating in the middle 3 carriages and the 2 extremities being end doored and table seated. I know no such ‘train’ exists but sure not beyond the wit of the known mfrs.

Try this one

http://www.railrover.org/pages/north-country-rover.html

North Country Rover 4 in 8. Bit pricey, but works out at around £25 per day. Includes York-Scarborough and Middlesbrough.

I like the privacy that comes with an ariline seat, not having to sit facing somone fighting for leg space. Also if people are noisy you are incapable of being separated from their conversation in an airline seat

I think I'll be sticking to West Yorkshire Day Rovers and work trips to Manchester - and perhaps a day out at the seaside.

Clearly I'm not hard core!

Monday and Tuesday 68031 with TP04 completed the MID-Carlisle-Crewe-MID circuit.

Today’s Longsight-Carlisle set off 99 late and turned back at Carnforth.

presumably to pick up its south bound path, Carnforth to Crewe.

68027/68019 York Siemens Depot
68022/68028 York Siemens Depot
68032 Scarborough (driver learner/refresher loco)
68024 York (driver learner/refresher loco)

Sorry not to have had time to reply individually to various comments made over the weekend.

Points about file sizes of pictures duly noted. Sampling down files on iPhone is easy to do, so no problem.

I did think the comments about: ‘loco spotter’, your pictures ‘have spoiled my enjoyment of the thread’, your posts about light engine moves are ‘boring’, were all a bit much.

Anyone would think I had committed a crime, rather than being an enthusiast who simply wanted to make a positive contribution to the thread...

One thing's for sure: I'll be planning my Batley to Huddersfield trips with a change into the Middlesbrough-Airport at Dewsbury once they're loco-hauled... at least until the novelty wears off ;)! The West Riding pub will probably benefit from that!

Oh heck, here’s hoping it’s something as simple as the vinyls on the DT.......

Well, better that it's ironed out now rather than following entry into service. When are the 185s due to go off-lease?

It’s difficult to see how the introduction of new capacity on TransPennine could have been more mismanaged.

Why promise things again and again by set dates that you aren’t at least a bit sure you and your supplier can deliver?

Their precious reputation is all important. Ha ha ha.
