Evening,

I remember reading about 18 months ago that the frequency of the Hull to Scarborough service past Bridlington was to be increased to hourly but it was postponed during the timetable fiasco last year, do any of you know what the plan is for this now, is it still going to happen at some point or has it been quietly forgotten about?

Thanks

I think it is being increased from May 2019.

Northern will be introducing direct services between Chester and Leeds, between Hull and Scarborough, and between Sheffield and Gainsborough.

RTT at Beverley from May shows a half hourly service to Bridlington continuing hourly to Scarborough, but not after 1944 from Beverley to Scarborough

Oh, this is good news, I feared this may have been forgotten!

Hello again, I have another question...

I've just found this photo on Flickr of a 170 at Scarborough working a service to Hull, if the caption is correct, my question is, is the Yorkshire Coast route going over to Class 170 operation or is it just a select few diagrams?

Thanks!

Believe the majority of the Yorkshire Coast stuff will be operated by 170s especially the through services to Sheffield

Bit of an upgrade to the random collection of Sprinters used recently!

That said, the 158's were a nice upgrade from the 156's that were used when I first started using the route.

...which, in turn were an upgrade from the 142 and 150 that arrived when I lived thereabouts. And they, of course, were a huge downgrade from trains that were big enough, had enough room in them for luggage and bicycles and so on, and had good view out as well.

In the new timetable there are now 15 daily services between Scarborough and Hull in both directions.

It's the best and most intensive regular timetable ever on this line. The only flaws seem to be at the end of the day when the last train from Scarborough is at 2111 rather than xx20. For those wanting the theatre a 2211 would be better and more useful than the 2111.
