So I'm mid application for this and going back over the job description where they say you need a qualification in engineering or related discipline. I've never heard of this as a specification before.. anyone else?

Now immediately feeling like there is no point in applying.

It doesn't say that. It says that it would gouge you an advantage if you did.

The attached job description reads otherwise. I'm aware the initial job listing appears that it's non essential.

Send it in anyway, the majority applications will be the same as you. I know I am.

Applied. I haven't got an engineering background but do have a degree with a technology element. Coming from police so hopefully the advantages coming from that will offset the engineering issue .

they are keen on whether you have completed a working apprenticeship of any sort as this proves you are capable of learning a mixture of theory and practical and have proved you have completed a course previously of this nature.

Anybody else got the invite for online assessment? Doesn’t say what kind of assessment it is though, anybody got any idea?

I’m gutted I can’t apply for this. I started my conductor training for snow hill in Jan 2019, so can’t apply for another position until end of 6 month probation. It’s a real shame because in Nov 2018 I passed the entire process for a trainee train driver for TFW (Shrewsbury) & currently waiting in the talent pool for a course.
I would love to stay with WMT, esp these two stations as I live near.
I guess it’s all about timing!

Looks like they pulled the plug early ? Tried to finish off my application last night and the position had disappeared.

Yes, they changed from the 18th to the 15th, and even then they cut it off midday.

The application process was open for a total of 4.5 days, a very tight window.

This happened to me previously with vacancies for WMT at Leamington Spa, it was frustrating and I wasn't going to go through the same this time so I spent all of my down time at work on the 12th completing my application. Sorry you've missed out but there seems to be a lot coming around at the moment and the employers will always pull them when they reach X amount of applications.

Well, it's been a long wait, just received an email from Abellio inviting me to an interview with several dates and times available for me to pick from.

This is for the Trainee Train Diver job at Worcester

Well done mumrar and good luck. Just curious what are the choice of dates?

I haven't yet looked as I'm currently in work so want to ensure I've got everything all right for when I choose.

Those dates get snapped up pretty quickly I would accept one asap if I were you or you may miss out

I took your advice and found 3 available time slots for one day only, so I've gone for one of those.

Thanks for the tip

How can you have an interview then with no slots?!
They have slots available to offer but it tends to be on a first come first served basis. I know GWR do this anyway. I don’t think they actually say that on the invite though.

So if you’re not quick to reply you’re effectively out?

Not necessarily out, just email resources and explain the situation and you will likely be held in a pool until further dates are released. IME, usually a few weeks later

Emailed them and the lady sent me a new link for the next interview day of 31/05. If I couldn’t make that date the email said they would hold my info on file for future interviews.
The lady dealing with me was really good and got back to me within 45 mins each time I emailed.

no not at all, they are really good. if you don't choose a interview slot in time just do as coach carter did. email them explain you that they have gone and they will send you another as soon as one is available.

Hiya mate, thanks for the offer. I’m currently in a talent pool with freightliner after passing tests and dmi with them so I have a good idea of what’s to come but I might msg you in next few days to ask a few things if that’s ok?
How did you feel you got on mate?
