The 22 units going off lease are scheduled to be handed back between 13th October this year and 31st March 2020, though that's always been subject to the new trains entering service in time.Well, better that it's ironed out now rather than following entry into service. When are the 185s due to go off-lease?
A TPE-only rover may be good even if £40 or so for the day? I would have to pay a nominal amount to get to the TPE network but it'd be viable in my eyes
I’m not sure it’s worth the effort to bash 185s this summerShack yourself up with a member of TPE staff. Friends and family get a TPE rover for £6!

Top pictures and videos, Mike. As always, thanks for sharing3H69 operated from Crewe Down Refuge Sidings to Manchester International Depot today (Nothing left MID this morning so was unexpected for me) this was powered by 68031 'Felix' and what I believe to be set TP04. I caught up with it at Heald Green shortly after getting the Nova 1 (Been a busy Nova day!)

Points about file sizes of pictures duly noted. Sampling down files on iPhone is easy to do, so no problem.
I did think the comments about: ‘loco spotter’, your pictures ‘have spoiled my enjoyment of the thread’, your posts about light engine moves are ‘boring’, were all a bit much.
Anyone would think I had committed a crime, rather than being an enthusiast who simply wanted to make a positive contribution to the thread...
Many thanks. One wonders why with so many tables it was still not possible to ensure that the seats line up with the windows!
My own prejudice against airline seats stem from being a 6’3’’ Crosscountry Voyager commuter. As such, I have always preferred tables.
Having experienced the superior leg-room of the IET on GWR (albeit with harder seats), I am becoming a convert to the airline seat. I wonder whether a standard of a 50/50 split would please everyone? The IET, with 8 tables per standard coach and decent leg-room throughout, seems to me to be a happy medium.
IET for XC, anyone?
Monday and Tuesday 68031 with TP04 completed the MID-Carlisle-Crewe-MID circuit.
Today’s Longsight-Carlisle set off 99 late and turned back at Carnforth.

Sorry not to have had time to reply individually to various comments made over the weekend.

Software problems - wonder if this is CAF's end or Stadler's. Are DRS being paid for all these locos that are liveried up but just doing the occasional runs every week? Must be expensive for TPE to keep them leased whilst not doing much.
Interestingly for those debating the merits of posts that are solely about Class 68 loco's - the layout includes the Loco, thus it could be argued that a Class 68 is PART of a Nova 3 and therefore on-topic.
Could anybody say if these are a 68+mk5 set, please?

That’s a lovely image. I arrived about 20:00 and by then the 68 was blocked by 185 118, I did start to wonder if some forum members who object to pictures might have friends in high placesI feel there were some unfair comments made. It was also notable how little has been contributed to this thread by some of those holding such strong opinions of what should appear in here!
Anyone who requires info that is tailored to their personal requirements could create their own thread, where they would be able to make their demands clear.
The post about resizing images was very fair and constructive.
As last night's Mk5A run was cancelled, I had to make do with a photo on my mobile of a dirty diesel without Annie or Clarabel. Without the construction of Mk5A's, this photo would not have been possible, as these locomotives were prohibited from Platform 2 and the Maintenance Road/Examination Siding at York station.
I hope some people like it, even though others clearly won't. It has been resized down

Just out of interest, why were the 68s prohibited from platform 2 prior to the TPE workings?

Anyone you'd like to introduce me to
I know not every disability is visible, but mostly priority seats appear to be occupied by one of two things - tall blokes or people who want to put their suitcase by their knees.
Testing of Nova 3 has been pretty intensive this past week.
In addition to the usual trips to Carlisle/Crewe/Bletchley, two nights there were workings to Liverpool Lime Street. These called at Hartford, Acton Bridge, and Runcorn. I wonder if these were to test the software that has been causing problems on the TPE training runs?
Give or take the odd chain, I make the mileage just short of 1900 miles. Interesting to think that will be an ‘easy’ week once they start over the Pennines with some diagrams working out at over 800 miles a day!
Full workings below.
