I saw this thread earlier
https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...at-go-through-a-station-but-dont-stop.183154/

Which ended up refering to this service from Manchester Victoria to London Victoria
http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U63638/2019/05/23/advanced

There can't be too many of these services linking a station in one city with its namesake in another.

Any more like this? I can imagine situations where a service might run from Southend Victoria to London Victoria.

Obviously there'll be loads from Abc Central to Xyz Central so lets not count that, or North/South/East/West - I'm thinking of 'name' names.

Not really ‘name’ names but Worcester Shrub Hill has some direct services to Lawrence Hill.

Penybont on the Heart of Wales Line I think gets a service to Pen-Y-Bont ar Ogwr (Bridgend) once per day.

One service which springs to mind is the 0624 Stoke-on-Trent to Blackpool North Northern service which calls at both Adlington in leafy Cheshire and Adlington in Lancashire

The former daily St Annes-on-the-Sea to Greenbank service called at Lostock and Lostock Gralam.

LO services from Liverpool St to Turkey Street? Or SE from London Bridge to Catford Bridge?

I bet there’s lots of Street and Bridge versions!

There used to be Liverpool Central to Manchester Central - via Warrington Central, and some stopping trains also going via Widnes Central....
And also branches off that CLC line to both Wigan Central & St. Helens Central (the GCR/LNER version, not the renamed St. Helens Shaw Street)

There appears to be 1 train a day eastbound and one train a week westbound that call at Didcot, Tiverton and Bodmin Parkways. And a few more trains that call at Port Talbot, Bristol and Didcot Parkways. Are there are services that call at 4 Parkway stations?

Does Hawarden & Hawarden Bridge count? Only two stops away from each other but I think it meets the criteria.

Blackburn to Southport via Rochdale services call at both Burnley Manchester Road and Manchester Victoria.

Kings Lynn to London Kings Cross.

And of course the departure boards at Norwich must be fun with London Liverpool Street and Liverpool Lime Street.

Sadly the Southeastern Javelin services don't stop at Chartham, as otherwise you could get a train from Chatham to Chartham!

Sometimes on diversion VTWC services from London Euston to Glasgow Central pass nonstop through both Queen's Park stations.

Not entirely on topic but I once got on a train at Staveley (Cumbria) and went to Bramley (W. Yorks) which should cost about 35 pounds one way. It was when i nearly got charged 100 pounds that i realised they had put in Bramley (Hampshire)! Strange as it was a Northern service I was on!!

Apparently that is done (as at Ely) by having 'Lime Street, Liverpool' and 'London Liv Street'
A worse situation was in the 1980s at Watford Junction, when the DC line service to Broad Street had been diverted into Liverpool Street. It ran just a few times a day, but one at about 0800 departed at the same time as the express to Liverpool Lime Street, first stop Runcorn, which called at the opposite side of the same island platform. Worse, the DC train formed a very convenient connection at Liverpool Street into the morning Continental boat train to Harwich, and au pairs and similar with poor English going home from Hertfordshire and Bucks to the Netherlands and Germany would be seen off at the Watford barrier, told explicitly to go to Liverpool Street etc, up to the platform, DC train is at the end round a corner, in comes a train, porters shouting "LIVERPOOL lime STREET" ... you can guess the rest. Apparently the station staff at Runcorn had a specific procedure because of the number of times it happened.

Especially when they're departing within 10 minutes of each other from either side of the same platform!

It seems much more common for people to get on the Liverpool train mistakenly than the London service, which I've seen at least half a dozen times over the years.

That way there are still valid routes that go Norwich to London via Ely (and Peterborough?) so it would be harder for a guard to distinguish between a mistake and a genuine passenger going that way for whatever reason (needs to go to London Kings Cross or something)
