Just wondering what the status quo of 156451 is at the moment. I think if I recalled this was the first Angel owned train that was on its way to get new seat covers and perhaps new seats too so has anyone seen it or know where it is as I believe it's been more than a couple of months since it was last seen?

The new moquette is a huge improvement on the earlier cloth. Much brighter and far less grubby looking.

Nice to see something different. It will get refurbished eventually. 150105 "Hutchie", "Bernie" other end,
doing the 16.00 Stalybridge to Manchester Victoria.

Much nicer, still the same rubbish lighting though, wish they would change that, exposed tube lighting, so very 1970s!

Are the refurbs supposed to include CCTV as well? Can't recall any having it so far, was it meant to be done?

Don't think so. Forgot to check but it probably needs to be refurbed to be PRM compliant.
Units / stock don't need to be refurbished to be PRM compliant. They only need to have the necessary modifications; which are a passenger information system with "next stop" etc functionality and interior and exterior visual displays and automated announcements, the new type door openable and closing sounders within the specified volume and pitch range, door controls low enough to be operated by a wheelchair using passenger, door buttons / handles in a high visibility colour e.g. yellow, compliant wheelchair space and accessible toilet with call for aid feature and flashing "door lockable" light, and fitment of toilet retention tanks, seemingly always with vacuum flush fitted at the same time. The unit / carriages can still be "unrefurbished" in the sense of otherwise tired condition, until its / their next overhaul

There was evidence that that 150105 had a few new nuts and bolts on either end and also on the gearboxes on each car. The driver said that it was better maintained than the Northern stock and rode better too. One has to remember that its come from down south so has had a larger budget to keep the girls features that bit better for 30+ years

I don't get why Northern would PRM mod a class 150, reliverise it into unbranded Northern colours, paint the grab rails yellow and yet no PIS screens?
I know what you mean. I've been on a few refurbed Northern 150's (latest livery & seats) and some have the brighter interior with no PIS screens and others do. I think it was the 150/2 that had them and 150/1 that don't.
Please correct me if that's not the case.

Some units have re-entered service having received most of their PRM modifications before going in for the internal refresh. I assume it is down to space in the works, as the 2 lots of work are carried out at separate sites. Given the unit shortage it makes sense to have every available unit out in service

Its nothing to do with budget, the 150s which ever TOC were subject to the same exam miles, the difference being that while 150105,107 and 109 spent the last few years pootling along on a quiet branch line the rest of the fleet at Northern has been thrashed to within an inch of its life, all day everyday, 400 to 500 miles a day. Northern cannot get away with anything despite the claims otherwise.

Not meaning to be rude or anything but I was replying to this post down below:
150150 is back in service partially refurbished. It has been repainted externally minus decals and interior wise it’s only appears to of received an accessible toilet and some yellow grab rails. The seats, interior panels and the cycle rack remain un-refurbished

Which is why I replied with this:
Does it have the PIS screens in?
as John C never mentioned anything about 150 150 having any PIS displays

Apologies for any inconvenience caused

I travelled all the way from Leeds - Southport on 150105 last week. The interior was clean. The seats were in excellent nick. Compared to a Northern unit, even a recently refurbished one, it was in superb condition. Northern units visit depots in exactly the same way units of all other TOCs do and whether they do 500 miles per day or 50 is irrelevant to how they are looked after or whether the TOC makes any effort to clean them or keep them in a decent state.
