Does anyone know what is happening to the proposed tree looper 34258? It was in and out the workshops in Camborne recently but now just seems to be parked up. I am not on Facebook so can’t ask on the ‘behind the scenes’ page.

There are quite a few places that could do with some vegetation management.

I’m led to believe you aren’t allowed to tree lop in nesting season which I’ve always assumed to be spring?

On other news it seems a withdrawal threat for Ride Cornwall has the desired effect. 20 mins ago on Facebook

Think you’re right on the tree lopping and I wasn’t far off on the new Ride price! At least it’s sorted but still, the lack of promotion is very disappointing.

You are correct, the Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981 is the legislation that mainly covers it.

I was wondering if the bus was fully converted and ready to use. It is grey with no discernible markings on it’s exterior indicating its role.

I thought it would receive some sort of high visibility paint scheme.

£10.75 today, £18 tomorrow! That's a serious money grab by First. I understand the removal of rail cards but not the 4est of the increase to make it one of the highest priced day tickets in the country. The message didnt quote a start date for the new rules but I assume its Sunday.

I see an issue with day tickets in Kernow land, the price is reasonable for an hourly hop on hop off open top service, however expensive for normal services. Selling 2 different bands of day tickets, one to include the Penzance Lands End St ives services ana one not would seem sensible to me.

A reasonable suggestion. However, FK's pricing policy seems to deliberately favour period and multi-day tickets.

The inference to me is to keep fares lower for regular travellers by ramping them up for one-off day travellers, ie use tourists to subsidise the network for the locals. Personally I don't have a problem with that.

The lovely lady at Bodmin Parkway have just confirmed that GWR sent an email this morning confirming the price rise starts tomorrow and GWR are introducing a new rail only rover for £12.50 which you can get railcard discount off. So today will be my last Ride Cornwall and in future I'll get the rail rover as £18 is just ridiculous. Good on GWR for creating a Cornwall Rover too.

Assuming the rail rover is the normal 1/3 off, it’ll be about £8.35 railcard discount. Add a 5 day bundle from the app for £30, at £6 a day valid for use for 6 months. You’d just lose the pcb validity

E400MMC’s 33473 and 33303 on GWR rail replacement services at St Erth this morning.

Adding to this it seems from watching the comings and going’s at St Erth for a while this morning that the T1 does not serve the new stop at the Railway station yet the A17 does - strange.

Looking at the First fleet changes for March on the WMbusphotos website I reckon that FSW have been catching up on their records. There are vehicles on there shown as leaving such as 23009 42521/2/5 which I reckon must have gone long ago. 62238 is also shown as gone so I assume not rusting in the Penzance compound any longer!

The A17 is stopping to assist with St Ives passengers when connections are late apparently. Interestingly the rail replacement at 0924 was instructed to wait for the 0928 from Plymouth to arrive and all passengers to board. Good load on 0932 A2 from St Erth as far as Lands End. A1 at 1040 from Penzance was full up and down but running 30 mins late from Porthcurno which, given the roads aren't busy yet, wasn't great.
96 also didnt wait for connection from 95 in Wadebridge which is poor on a 2 hourly service.

1614 95 from Boscastle was 15 late and full seated before arrival and picking up the 20+ queue!

Now sat on 6 from Bude back to Exeter with 30 on which isn't bad. Good value day out with Ride Cornwall and Stagecoach Explorer combined.

I managed to get hold of a copy of Kernow's new Summer timetable, and am surprised that they seem to have abolished the rule that Concessionary Pass holders can only travel free between 09:30 and 23:00 on Monday to Friday.

The new timetable clearly states, "If you have an English National Concessionary Bus Pass you can travel for free at any time."

It happened at the beginning of April, with local publicity in press and on TV/radio. The only downside for concessionary pass holders, and that only for a few, is that the lower rate on Truro P&R no longer applies.

Thanks embers25, the plan was that every service would use the new stop outside the railway station. Perhaps this will happen when the park and ride work is completed.

Cornwall council abolished the rule, so this is applicable to all services in Cornwall that the pass is valid on.

I understand from the driver that they all will once it's all finished although the signs on all the bus stops say on the A17 for now and once th P&R opens the situation will be reviewed. My guess is that's Kernow's way of hedging their bets in case the delays getting in and out of the station are too large.

What was bad was the lady directing people to the rail replacement bus confirming that all buses use the new stop already when they don't. Only when I asked if she was sure did she say well actually No! At least with the new traffic lights you can get across to the main road stop more safely now, although that stop is still called temporary, even though it's always been there!

What was a bit daft yesterday was that the Open Topper followed the local bus 7 the whole way from Zennor to Lands End. I appreciate they are aimed at different people but passing points are tough enough on that route without needing one for two buses the whole way and obviously turning at Sennen Cove was delayed too.

Also of note was each bus having boxes of timetables, like last year, and there was very good passenger take up of these, particularly on the 95, although drivers weren't warning passengers that the timetable didn't start until today!

Only the A17 and rail replacement services are using the new stops thus far. The T1 and A2 are still stopping on the main road. The new stop accommodates about 3 buses but taxis and cars also use it to pick up and drop off which could be an issue.

A question I've asked once or twice before, but never had an answer, probably because there was nothing definitive: will the T2 be diverted via the new interchange? I suspect the answer is 'no', and I can well guess why, but I think it will become imperative in order to cater for the numbers wanting to get to St Ives. The trains are overfull already at times, just like Truro - Falmouth, and there'll be great dissatisfaction amongst the expected carfuls of passengers, many with young children, if they have to wait an hour or more to continue their journey.

The service on the St Ives line is now 2 x Class 150, I don’t know how many seats that equates to but if it is found to be inadequate they need a back up coach to be arranged.

33112 in Padstow. The dual doors made my loading and unloading on the park and ride quite a bit faster than the other two with single doors
