Holmfirth bus station does have public toilets right by it though, and has been smartened up from its earlier grottiness.

The public toliets at Holmfirth bus station use to be staffed at one time but now are unstaffed and are under the ownership of the Holme Valley Parish Council.

The bus station at Castleton, Derbyshire is a single shelter.
North Street in Goole is the towns "bus station", it even has a departure board!
Hemsworth, West Yorkshire the bus station there is a handful of stops that are bolted on to the side of Tesco - the same applies to the barren looking Seacroft bus station, but at least they have some seats.
Filey bus station is two (possibly three, I haven't really took much notice) stands that is bolted on to the side of a large public toilet.

Denby Dale "Interchange": One stop in a turning circle, served by only 2 of the 3* services that pass through the village. There used to be 2 stops/stands but one was taken out when the Holmfirth to Wakefield routes stopped coming up the hill to the station.

Presumably "Interchange" refers to the railway station nearby, but despite both buses and trains being run by Arriva-owned entities, any connections are luck rather than judgement!

*= as they collectively run hourly, I've treated the 435/436/437 group as one service.

Seaham "Interchange" is a smattering of bus shelters around the town centre, at least a good mile or so from the railway station.

It's still a massive improvement on the squalid old (very terrifying) bus station, mind.

Does Bishop Auckland count? Huge site but the locals have nicked, torched or smashed everything in it.

Seaham Harbour bus station was like something out of Blade Runner!

I don't think you can count Bishop. Not only is it huge (and indeed, it used to be bigger - the car park in front of B&M used to be the layover area) but as well as shelters, it has a (god awful) toilet block, a snack hut (that used to be the United and then OK travel kiosk) and also a drivers' restroom. I have spent a lot of time there in the past, waiting for knackered smoky United Nationals :p

Earby Bus Station. Basically a shelter. And can only take one bus at a time.

Mentioned that and Whalley on #24. Oddly, Earby was (about 25 years ago) a two stand saw tooth arrangement.

Agree with you on Filey - a very apt description. Not so certain on Hemsworth - that's quite a big structure considering. Certainly more impressive than what preceded it. South Elmsall bus station is three bus shelters though.

Seacroft can't be described as minimal though - it's a ridiculous structure. In fact, West Yorkshire has some of the most ostentatious, outsized bus stations, but that's another thread

Morecambe Bus Station, which has four stops, three on one side of the road, and the other on the opposite side of the daul-carriageway, and has no toilets nor are they any near by.

Storrington, West Sussex - two stands that are located on a turning circle at the rear of the local Waitrose, said "bus station" is equipt with a single shelter.

Sign point to the bus station: https://goo.gl/maps/dXw5mgbFvaNL7wQo6
The bus station itself: https://goo.gl/maps/3qznvq6fixWgcB1T8

I'm tempted to say Terminus Road in Eastbourne as that is technically a bus station, albeit a series of shelters on either side of the road. The nearest facilities are the tourist information centre and around the corner are the local bogs.

Uckfield bus station could also be added to the list considering that its very basic.

Seem to recall that Storrington appeared in timetables as "bus stand" https://www.flickr.com/photos/77751...vX-djDa7T-anhCN7-anhDa1-anePbt-anePte-anePaP/

Uckfield is a good shout. Eastbourne (Terminus Road) is just like any other set of shelters in a major town shorn of its bus station and, of course, Eastbourne used to have TWO bus stations.

Wales has more than its share of woeful bus stations.

Treharris - turning circle with two shelters and a sign proclaiming "Treharris bus station".
Nelson - a couple of roadside bus shelters (think it used to have toilets but now removed)
Gorseinon - bit bigger but 4 shelters with a set of grotty public toilets (and not a place to wait on a winter's night - I assure you)
Pontarddulais - two bus shelters on a back street IIRC

Alas, redevelopment of Eastbourne means there are no stops in Terminus Road any more, which is now one way. They have been relocated to Cornfield Road (the seaside end of Terminus Road) and Gildredge Road (opposite the railway station); while good locations in themselves, they are less good for interchange.
East Sussex County Council has a longstanding scheme to improve Uckfield, but I'm not aware that it has been implemented yet.

You've certainly gone for the tourist hotspots!
Not relevant for this thread there's also Cardiff's disappearing bus station and Newport's new one that's now half closed because the stands weren't designed to have heavy vehicles standing on them!

Oh yes - some delightful spots! Last time I had a South Wales odyssey, I enjoyed visits to Ogmore Vale, Aberdare, Llantwit Major....

Not been to Newport recently. Which half is closed - could it not take the heavyweight nature of Foxstar’s publicity??

A couple of weeks ago it was the whole of the 'country' side (Stagecoach/Anslow/First etc), half of that side has been closed for a couple of months.

Tadcaster seems to be over provisioned compared to some on this list!

Tadcaster Bus Station has 4 stands, 2 each side of a central island perpendicular to the main road past it (and with a public loo and a kebab shop at the main road end (The infamous Tadkebab!). Buses circulate round and anti-clockwise one-way system to use it. Only 3 stands are currently in use: Stand 4 for Coastliner services to Leeds and the No. 37 villages service to York; Stand 1 for Coastliner services to York, Malton and the East Coast; and Stand 3 for the other services (to Wetherby and to Sherburn-in-Elmet)

Tadkebab - that’s still going? Been there >25 years. The bus station was just some shabby shelters but gained something much more substantial in recent years.

Peterhead has a respectably-sized bus station with an office and waiting room, described as "interchange" in the timetables (unlike the similar one at Fraserburgh, definitely "bus station"). As the last train ran in Peterhead before most posters here were born (closed to passengers 65, freight 70), the word must be taken to apply to inter-bus movement. Slightly similar, Chester's Princess Street successor to Delamere Street was called the bus exchange on opening rather than station, though the current version in George Street is "interchange" without being near the rail station.

Keswick is three stops with no shelter and horrendous over-crowding at busy times. At least there is some shelter to be had on Booths next door!
used to be a decent bus station. then they built Booths on it.

Edit - old image of Keswick bus station. 555 bus to Kendal. still the same number!

Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
In London we have the delightful Mortlake Bus Station, consisting of a turning circle and one shelter at the end of a dead-end residential road. It's only served by the 209 (itself one of the shortest routes in the capital), but only by buses heading to Hammersmith. Inbound buses actually terminate outside the bus station.

Ripon. The good Transdev 36 service to Leeds. And desultory services with odd runs each day. Couple of bus shelters. Used to have a bus station caff when I used it with Mum and Dad as a kid.
I remember the 36 being extended to the train station then too. Only some journeys.

(Miss the Skipton bus station caff too)

Grassington. Now a royal mail depot. used to have a few buses stay each night I think. Was West Yorkshire Road Car
https://goo.gl/maps/xreJ8Ns68csPGeoh6

Pateley bridge had a bus station
https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8327/8123036781_36f6023939.jpg
It was arounf Millfield St, King St. Cant remember the exact location.
West Yorkshire Road Car used to have 2 routes to Harrogate, and one up to Middlesmoor.

And of course Leeds New York Street Bus Station. Opposite side of the road to the central Bus Station, and had a service to kettlewell, the 110. The buses were painted red as they replaced an old tram service. Was on the corner of New York St and Cross York St, where the Co-op is now.
this was mentioned on https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/leeds-bus-termini-in-the-old-days.181072/

Grassington was WYRCC and was a combined depot/bus station. It had an office and shelter and was an outstation of Skipton
