Ianvisits is claiming that closure tomorrow for Angel Road is confirmed, but I'm not able to find any official online confirmation of this.

Are they really not going to have Sunday services initially? It's so much more convenient for Ikea that I'm sure there would be use - if you're at Tottenham Hale it's a much better option than the tiny 192 bus that's always been rammed from the start when I've used it, meaning that nobody can get on at the first few stops.

There is no off peak or weekend service until September and even then it's a paltry x30 service north of T Hale. This is what happens when the DfT write service specifications. I agree there would be undoubted demand to serve Meridian Water because of IKEA traffic but DfT are happy to not cater for this even though it should be feasible to stop trains at weekends as a minimum. The Lea Valley stopping service is not exactly frequent for London area stations because of the emphasis on serving Essex / Herts stations.

The proposed Sunday timetable (that is online) is also a shambles - something like 5/25 headway out of Stratford whereas M-S times are close to a x15 headway. Goodness knows why.

Are we sure it was Network Rail and not the local youth still bored on half term? Best check Shpock in case there's a bridge for sale. :D

Add an extra stop in the Lea Valley stoppers at MW (without sacrificing somewhere else) and you'll pretty much immediately hit the journey time of the next fast service. People already complain enough about the Stansted "Express" journey times as it is...

I went to Meridian Water this morning. For most of the day only southbound trains stop here so I had to walk from Northumberland Park station to get there. It does still appear to be unfinished with signs on the bridge/concourse level still not in place. When I got on the train, the announcement was 'this is Angel Road'. It should also be noted that Meridian Water is not yet on National Rail Enquiries although departures can be viewed on Google Maps. NRE shows it as MWRWSTN on live journeys.

Near a bunch of sheds that aren't 66s.
The 317s seem to be saying Angel Road but there is a 379 on the Stratford - Bishop's Stortford circuit for whatever reason and that has been updated to say Meridian Water. Also seems to be a new Scottish sounding TTSR announcement system at Meridian Water instead of usual ATOS Anne.

Being grumpy....
Building a brand new station with those big uncovered staircases? Going to get pretty bleak in the winter....

Trivia: Has a new station ever been opened with numbered platforms, but missing Platform 1 before....?

Geoff's video. I'm surprised at how many passengers where on that train at 5am! I feel sorry for them having to get into work that early!

Ugly station

Subjective. I think it looks really nice. And compared to what was there before....

Clearly built for growth, which is good. Although many of the plans for the area have changed/been delayed, there's definitely going to be a lot of development one day. To me it's a good bit of forward thinking that we seem to lack on so many things (e.g. still arguing about HS2!).

In Geoff's video, it looks like that may be the train Chris Grayling arrives on?

Given where it is, at any time of year it will be the least bleak building anywhere nearby!

As it is handy for Tottenham Hotspurs FC, I would of thought that it will have extra services on match days which are mostly going to be Saturdays and Sundays.

Northumberland Park is closer, and that will get the extra services, as it usually does.

Umm, built for 8x20m stock, which is odd as within a year or so of opening GA will operate no 20m stock. Same with new platform at TottHale which is even stranger as it other side of the existing 12x20m up platform.

Not sure whether 2x5 car 720 with SDO will work. If not we will see a reduction in capacity to 1x720 soon after opening

I noticed that as well, at least the new platform at Tottenham Hale 'should' be easy enough to extend northwards but not ideal.

The starting signal on the 3rd track at Meridian Water does seem to be located some distance off the end of the platform - may be 'active' provision for 10 car (23m vehicle) trains?

Yes looks like it, but operationally will be very sub-optimal to have middle/rear of train on platform at MW and front/middle at TottHale. Suppose they could put signs/barriers up to encourage passengers to not board rear save everyone having to walk forward. Anyway given delays to 720s not a problem for now

Ticket barriers are being installed at Meridian Water which suggests the station will be manned. They are also finishing stuff off like Cycle Racks, station forecourt lighting and panel work on the inside of the station building/bridge. Station is missing a Totem Pole though
