Hello all

I have a video interview with East Midlands trains, does anybody know what type of questions are asked? Does anybody have any experience of this type of interview? I have had some tough and interesting interviews over the years but never a video interview.

Hi. I did one a couple of years ago.
Was rule base questions, you tend to get 30 second to answer.
I didn't get through the process. Make sure you are clear when answering the questions.
Good luck with it.

Hi. How did you find it. I was in the same situation as you lol! Will be interesting to see if the questions change between candidates or if every one is asked the same.

Was hard looking at yourself!!

I had questions about rules mainly, and a couple on my company knowledge, how about you?

Hi I’ve received an email for an interview. Do you mean you get 30 seconds before you answer it or a duration of 30 seconds once the questions been asked?

I just completed the interview. 2 questions. About 20 seconds to think of your answer and 90 seconds to give the answer. It is not an easy task in my opinion and I wish they didn't use such recruitment devices - but such is life. More time to think would be much better and less to answer :)
Focus is on the company and the role.

Nice one Sussex, when you say focus on the company do you mean along the lines of about them and how they operate? And the role along the lines of rules and procedures?

Can I just say to those who are asking questions and advice. Remember everyone is competing with each other with regards to these job opportunities and there is obviously another sifting process happening which is why EMT have provided a video interview.
To those who are providing the answers to all the questions, it may be beneficial for your own sake to remember number one until you get the job.
(Not trying to sound harsh, but realistic)

Btw I don't mean the actual opc assessments, in respect to not giving too much away as that is just to see how you individually do, you can either do the tests or not.

But I do suggest the other parts where you are with the TOC (group assessments/ video interview/ dmi) that you are cautious that you are in fact helping your competitors do better than yourself by giving away any answers and help. Remember there is only so many candidates they will want to progress further through these stages.

Just my opinion.

I thought this forum was to HELP each other? .....

I'm not saying it isn't. But when you realise how many people are actually applying for these roles. You realise how many people are actually competitors.
Like I said earlier, it may sound harsh what I'm saying but it's the truth.
Those helping others, may in fact be jeopardising their own positions in this recruitment process.

I can understand your point of view but personally I am happy to help give any advice to someone who asks for it. I know it has helped me a great deal and not, as far as I’m aware, put the person who gave it at a disadvantage.

I think that anyone going for a position of this type should ask and prepare as much as possible, that's what a forum is for plus it isn't necessarily hindering the person who has already sat the interview as their answers have already been submitted even if you give all the information away of what's to come there is nothing to say I would have done better than you for example. It's down to the individual

Oh don't get me wrong, if anyone wants to give help and advice I'm all for it.
But you've just got to remember there is so many people EMT will want to see and interview. They won't take everyone further if they don't impress them and your help and advice, may just be risking your own position to go further.
Like I said it's just my opinion if anyone wants to take it on board or not, the choice is entirely up to them.

The difference is though, if someone had done the video interview. Felt they didn't do that well as they wasn't prepared for what questions was going to appear, but said what they said on the spot as best they could. Then you asked on the forum and someone gave you the questions to prepare. Your gonna be one step ahead and prepare for those questions in specific. Thus giving better answers than what you would of probably done without knowing the actual questions beforehand.
That person will then look less admirable compared to you then right?

Anyways I'm not commenting to argue with anyone. The choice is up to everyone individually what they do and how they help, all I'm saying is just think twice before giving away all those answers as you may be jeopardising your own position in this process. EMT or any other TOC won't be wasting their time taking everyone through to all the stages.

Oh and I thought I'd just say, I wasn't targeting you specifically for asking the question. I just realised you posted a thread on it, which I've just seen.

Also no there's no harm in asking questions and advice, but I'm just making others aware you are in fact all competing with one another until you get the job. (or at least pass the dmi)

I see what your saying, I just feel that it can go either way even if you know the questions as everyone is different.
Don't get me wrong I don't want to start a keyboard argument or anything I'm just trying to get across that people will be asking these questions as it's an unexpected unscheduled task that has no doubt thrown everyone

I’ve had a video interview in the past and although it’s not something I particularly enjoyed doing it was literally 3 questions and you have 3 minutes to answer each one but could stop the question and move on to the next as soon as you had said what you wanted to say. If you open the link then it will give you a practise but with me a question popped up in text on the screen then it counted down from 10 and then you had to 3 minutes to answer. Questions were along the lines of tell us about yourself, what do you know about the role and what skills can you bring that match the roll so pretty generic kind of questions.

Good luck

Hi

Is that for the qualified driver or trainee role?

Thanks

I'm not sure if they are different for everyone but I can confirm they aren't hard at all, nothing to worry about. I got 20 secs to get an answer together and 2 mins to answer plenty of time.

Are they relating to the role or company?
