No problem. Anyone know what class Cambridge to Norwich is today?

Or is there a site where I can check that? Real time trains always says 158.
Two diagrams are 3- car 170s the other (next working the 1735 ex-Nrw) is a 2-car. Many trains are full & standing due to Engineering works on the GEML,

No. The open data used by sites such as Open Train Times, Realtimetrains etc does not display what type of traction is booked for any given service.

The information you refer to is just a timing load.

From Cambridge to Norwich. Tried to catch East Midlands train but there is no 11pm service.
Ah, yes. Used the last East Mids from Peterborough/Ely a bit back in the day, almost always a few 'well oiled' pax from Thetford on a Saturday - going for even more in Norwich.
But as you say too early for you :(

Earlier this week there was a 156 covering a GA Nowich- Cambridge diagram and two successive East Mids services to/from Norwich where also formed of a 156. You would have self destructed

They've started early. Cleaners met my Cambridge at Norwich to clear vomit from the aisle. **** walked passed two toilets too.

Arghhhh ... If Pax do that to a Taxi its £50+ fee. Should TOCs do likewise?
[sorry going rather off topic]

Today resulted in the best daily set of 4 runs to date.
(If RTT is correct) three RT and just one (am down) 1L. :)

Everybody has been working together to make this work & in particular sort out the 9P92 issues around the Ipswich area. The omission of any freight to/from Felixstowe today will no doubt of helped.

That and the pesky IK45 starting out from Wickford this morning - (with Southend V shut).

What happened in the morning around Stowmarket?

This mornings run on time. Looking more 'restrained' in not running too early at Shenfield. Looks like some additional TSR's north of Ipswich preventing an early arrival at Ipswich on the Up now.

I travelled on the 11.00 & 17.00 today.

The 11.00 left 1 minute late and arrived 1½ minutes late. It was slightly delayed by signals at Stratford. (But got me to Norwich in time for a last ride behind a Class 37).
The 17.00 left 20 seconds early and arrived 4½ minutes late, delayed several times by signals after Shenfield, including coming to a stand outside Liverpool Street.

I was impressed with the urgency and efficiency around both services, by staff both on & off the train. Stops at Ipswich were just 60 seconds and 57 seconds. These trains are like going back to the old days of a small number of crack expresses on a route.

It was the same train in both directions and with only 8 coaches. Is this a dedicated set with one coach removed.

What were the pax loadings like?
My daughter travelled on 9P92, 19.00 down tonight as far as Ipswich, reported about half full. RT to Halifax Junction then sat for about 4 mins awaiting the Ipswich-London stopper, which set out 5L without obvious (to me at least) cause. The 'fast' was then 4L leaving Ipswich and 5L Norwich.

The sets are rotated around as otherwise would cause imbalance in mileage accumulation for maintenance cycles. There are numerous sets short formed to 8+DVT.

The 11.00 was fairly quiet.
The 17.00 was reasonably busy. Quite a few got off at Ipswich but a similar number boarded there.

I thought loadings were good considering they only serve two destinations.

Advance ticket prices may be a factor as I only paid £10 each way. With no first class advance fares this section wasn't very full.

The Up Norwich (19:43 ex Ipswich) was slightly late and I seem to recall the freight behind was running late as well this delayed 1Y61 which was in Platform 3 which therefore prevented 9P92 entering Ipswich.

Todays score
NRW - Norwich LST - Liverpool Street IPS - IPSW
09:00 NRW - LST arrived on time
11:00 LST - NRW Arrived on time at IPS but 3L at NRW
17:00 NRW - LST Departed IPS on time but 5L at LST
19:00 LST - NRW 2L at IPS and arrived NRW 1L

The 11:00 appears to have caught the previous service around diss and followed it into Norwich.

This seems to be a familiar pattern - the only service virtually guaranteed to be on time is the 9:00 from Norwich.
There are some temporary speed restrictions in the Stowmarket area that don't help things, but losing 5 mins on the up between Ipswich and Norwich isn't great.
I suppose under the previous PPM these would all have qualified as on time, but if you move to within 1 minute that's only 50% arriving on time or within a minute of their booked arrival time.
Pretty poor. But most of us familiar with the route could foresee this was likely to happen.
In effect a 95 minute advertised time to the general public would have been better - even if the working times remain as they are now!! Or simply, the working times need to be 85 minutes to guarantee a 90 minute journey time - to allow for these frequent 3 to 5 minute delays!

Does anyone know what the timetable pattern will be once the new fleet is in place? I imagine the hourly pattern might be a FLIRT stopping only at Ipswich, a FLIRT stopping also at Diss, Manningtree and Colchester, and an Aventra stopping also at Stowmarket, Chelmsford, possibly Shenfield, and Stratford.
