Hello all,

Do we know which engines are working the railtour today? Just wondering.

43002 Country end ex-Paddington. Believe they will get turned later in the day, so will be on the back for the last run out of Paddington.

Thank you for posting the numbers @Mag_seven. Thanks for letting me know that 43002 would be at the country end @bluegoblin7.

I've just been to one of my local stations (I won't post here for security reasons) and seeing and hearing the beast that is 43002 was amazing. Thanks all for the information about this railtour.

Problems with 43002 at reading apparently, not sure whether it's fixed now
Oh no! Seen as the railtour has around 2 hours left, that's not good. I hope it is fixed. This shows, as much as I don't like it, that 43002 is definitely destined for a museum. The failure on the "Last Day" (18th May) and now this.

Plan has been announced to bring down the spares to Taunton and have a four power car set, should that be needed.

Had some work done to it before the last day as well, didn't operate for a good few weeks before that as they wanted to make sure it was in tip top shape for the appearance.

0Z25 was dispatched from SPM, clearly not required as the tour passed through Taunton non-stop and 0Z25 was turned back at Weston-Super-Mare.

It's nice that GWR went to the trouble of keeping it aside for these special events but maybe because it wasn't running for a while that was why it failed?

Believe it needed an exam and some maintenance work on it.

They were desperate to have it running for the service so no expense was spared.

I saw photos on Instagram of it in Laira before the 18th actually, but I can't remember which exam it was. It definitely looked good on the 18th and yesterday though so the maintenance, from a aesthetic point of view, worked a treat! As I said earlier, it is really nice that GWR wanted to get the engine out for the special events.

I got on at Swindon just after 6am.., and was considering abandoning the last leg. Then I heard a rumour that 002 was poorly, they were going to send the spare set and stop the train at Taunton. I couldn't resist FOUR power cars. I ended up in Plymouth!

Yesterday was a big party in Plymouth. This was amusing!

On the tour someone near where I sat got really excited at the idea of 4 powercars being involved - as nice as it would have been I'm glad the non-stop run went ahead as planned, especially as we sailed along Dawlish just after sunset; any delay hooking up extra powercars would have spoiled that part of the journey in darkness.

I heard one of the power cars failed on the final leg of the tour how was it able to run to Plymouth I'm sure both power cars have to be fully operational to tackle those banks.
