Anyone know how much a single is, on the First bus 7 from T5 to Slough?

Good morning @cactustwirly and @DanTrainMan185 i just saw this and thought that i would reply.

It is not £3.50 any more and hasn't been for a while. The price has gone up a few times since then. It is actually £5.00 now for this ticket.

Heathrow (T123 or T5) to Slough (Bus Station) prices:
£5.00 - Adult Single
£6.50 - Adult Return
£7.00 - Adult First Berkshire Day Ticket

I hope that this information helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. I use these services quite a lot.

Kind regards.

It's only £3.50 single on the Reading Buses Greenline 703 from T5 to Slough and £5 return (day ticket for their whole network across to Newbury is also £7), and is likely to be a double decker, although is less frequent. They also do Boost tickets, for aged 18 and under, single is £2.60 from T5 to Slough, return £3.30. A Boost day ticket is £4.

That only runs hourly though, not really that much use to me at the time.

The First 7 uses nice Volvos with leather seats, not sure what RB uses, but if it's ADL it'll be a much poorer experience

Absolute skinflints with time to spare: just take any bus for free to the A4 Bath Road (the northern limit of the Heathrow free travel boundary) e.g. 7 (to H. Central) or 350, then take an 81 (£1.50) from there to Slough.

The 703 runs with Enviro400s normally, sometimes an MMC, so perfectly comfortable. Some of the 7s Volvos have just been refurbished.

Great, the 350 I took was an E200 MMC, and was one of the worst buses I've ever ridden, not a patch on a MAN Lions City
The Volvo is far more preferable, and obviously the 7 runs every 15 minutes

Heathrow route 7 is due to change in January. It will be linked with the 1 in Slough and will generally no longer run to Central Bus Terminal (Britwell- Slough - Langley - Terminal 5). To in part replace it, the 4 from Maidenhead will be extended to Central Bus Station (This extension to the 4 will replace the 'Fast 9' (so presumably the 8 will just run end to end Slough to Heathrow via Windsor and Egham) and will not serve Terminal 5).

''Ah, s**t here we go again'' - back to former route 78 again as it was before changes in Slough . Same pattern with 4 and bringing back the former 75 route in some shape or form.
I knew from the start of the revised network that it would be not as succesfull due to lack of coordination and passengers not willing to changeovers at Slough, but I wonder if this would not ruin the reliabilty again.

BTW - can anyone explain to me why First does not use concept of rush hours and puts the route every 15 minutes throughout the whole day and in the evenings?
Wouldn't it be better to put it every 10 in the morning until 10 o'clock and then every 20 between 10-15 when barerly anyone uses it except for the elderly?
BTW2: I hope they are on their last legs and would finally withdraw from Slough. The damages that they've done to the network over past few years are unforgettable and left us with so many operators within one town and bus tikcet prices almost the same like Uber or local minicab companies.

Large airports, like Heathrow, have completely different peak times to your conventional town/city centres etc.

Indeed, Heathrow would mostly be shift work rather than the conventional 9 to 5[or 8 to 4], will need plenty of buses before 6am & after 10pm, & anyway they'd be more buses on if there's a cash flow to justify it.

That’s right, 0430 to 0530 arrivals at Heathrow can be rammed with staff heading for work. It’s also busy around 1200-1400 as early shifts finish and lates start.

You are all right about the airport, but let's not forget that Slough isn't all about getting people to Heathrow and back, as there are also local needs that need to be met.

Currently the bus network size, reliability and it's value for money in Slough is more than pathetic.

The main problem we have in Slough is the fact that the transport system is not designed and controlled locally to respond to the needs, like it used to be when First Berkshire was managed locally - therefore all of the changes are just making the things worse.

You'll soon see that these change on 7 and 4 would affect the punctuality again and sooner or later they will split them again as you often see two or three buses running behind each other and then nothing for the next 40 minutes.

It's been like that a long time. I lived in Burnham 2001-2004. It's the only place I've ever lived where I wasn't a regular user of the local bus services.
