Following on from the thread on the soon to be withdrawn Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket at https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/end-of-schönes-wochenende-ticket.175571/, does anyone know whether you have to buy the Quer Durchs Land Ticket in advance, or can you buy it on the day? And can you buy it from a ticket machine or only at the ticket office?

You can buy it on the day itself, either in the app, the DB website, from a ticket machine or from a ticket office (although a handling fee will be charged in this case). Just make sure to carry a pen with you, as you'll need to write your name on the ticket.
