Todays 5L46 Laira to Ely

Can't be much left at Laira now

My own listing has just the following left at Laira and not allocated a classic or Hull train set - but I wouldn't be shocked if I've missed a move of one/some of them! Updates appreciated.

40902
41008, 41160, 41169
42005, 42015, 42016, 42554
44005, 44013, 44091

Another Classic set was due to be made up from the remnants of LA72, which would leave just enough spares of each type required for now.

More than that...
Angel: 43002/009/010/020/022/023/027/029/171/172/191
Porterbrook: 43063/071/086/088/156/160-162/180/196

Can anybody help with the whereabouts of 43079 + 43159? If these have moved from GWR metals for storage I've missed the info.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Both at Long Marston - they both went up on 21 April.

Of these, I have...

41008 Ely 22/03/19, 41169 Long Marston 24/01/19, 44013 Ely 18/04/19, 44091 Long Marston 04/04/19.

40902 is the Hull Trains spare buffet.

The rest are coaches which were used on the farewell trip on 01/06/19 and are, as far as I am aware, still at Laira.

To update myself...
42005/015/554 and 44005 have been formed into a 'GTi' LA72.
41160 moved to St Philips Marsh with 40902 yesterday.

Just be warned that RAIL magazine reports that the HST's in storage could be heading for the scrap yard if no-one gets them. No doubt that will cause an outrage amongst standing passengers, not just us rail enthusiasts!

More likely has no end doors - FGW/GWR removed them from a load of their MK3's!
All of their Mark 3s - the only vehicles to retain them were the van end of the TGS and the TF end next to the power car.

All bar the odd few - TGS 44000 had the doors removed at both ends, while IIRC one of the 408XX (Quite possibly the unrefurbished oddball that was 40811) retained them. But as you say the majority of them had theirs removed.

Believe 44000 had them robbed before it left GWR. It now has them back at the van the end.

Some paperwork issue, apparently. There was a mention on Twitter a couple of weeks ago, but I can't remember now who posted it or what exactly they said.
Or that it is up to Angel when it goes - if they have another potential lease for it then they are perfectly entitled to store it for as long as they want. GWR were frankly acting like it was their vehicle to send to the NRM - it isn’t.

Trundling up the A1 on a low loader this evening presumably on it's way to York

Realistically aside from last minute substitutions what would an HST do now? Wabtec are all busy dealing with ScR, XC and GW refurbishing their (rather rusty) Mk3s. so not like you could just pick one up and go given PRM and the time it would take to get a slot in to get it refurbished, and at that point, you'd be better off trying to arrange something with East Coast sets which appear to be in better condition, and certainly have a more workable interior regarding just condition and PRM compliance.
Theoretically could you instal a PRM toilet or two in a set and be fully compliant? are slam doors still seen as okay? or would you have to fit power doors in too?

@Speed43125 I heard that since the sliding door modifications were carried out, it became apparent that they're not actually required for PRM compliance, just changes to the "slam doors" (mechanisms, bars over windows, internal handles)

I’m curious as to how many short swing link bogied carriages are currently without use. You’d have though Grand Union or another Open Access haven’t tried to use them with some sort of Open Access Southern Region to somewhere operation!
