Any thoughts on whom will buy First Kernow ops when they look to sell their uk bus ops?

It’ll be a longer timescales. The statement also mentions separation which would be floating U.K. bus on a stock market seperate of First Group

I am only going by what is shown on the bustimes website however it shows that 37058 was in service on the 46 on Wednesday. Anyone on here seen it?

Last I heard it was still at Thornton’s!

By the way the flickr link on bustimes gives you the Stagecoach 37058......

Definitely incorrectly programmed ticket machine. 46 is a single deck route

Not quite accurate. I’ve seen a double decker on a 46 route a while back but think that must of been a Camborne-Redruth route only. This was in Pool near Pool Academy.

Open topper 33208(?) on the A2 was broken down on the Marazion By-Pass at 1 p.m. today, with service van in attendance and engine cowling up.

Still a few weeks away but I'll be in West Cornwall in mid July, mainly to have a few trips on the open toppers, can anyone advise if 32027 is seeing service at the moment?? That's my main vehicle target but it doesn't seem to have appeared in use on the bus tracking site https://bustimes.org/operators/first-kernow/vehicles

Thanks in advance!

Trident 33240 covering for an E400MMC on a T1 service today.

The issue of buses not serving the bus stop at St Erth railway station was raised by a caller on the BBC Radio Cornwall lunch time phone in programme today.

Sadly I wasn’t listening so don’t know what was said!

Buses can’t just start using the facility. 70 day notice to traffic commissioner to start with for route/timetable/stopping places change.
It would require a mid timetable change, and the additional time to call would impact vehicle diagrams, driver duties, as well as the timetable itself. With inter working this could knock on to other routes

But the opening of the new hub is hardly an unplanned event. Why couldn't the amended registrations and schedules etc. have been submitted and drawn up to be introduced when the hub opened

Because the exact completion and opening date wasn’t confirmed. Registering before it’s ready and then not being able to use it would be a failing to operate the registered stops etc

But what happens in the event of road/bus stop closures for road works?

I suspect the 70 days will be substantially reduced. If the council signs the pro forma immediately that reduces it to 42 days and also there's a good case for requesting a short notice variation, again supported by the council.

I suspect a mid timetable change will be the stumbling block. It involves a lot of work to change all involved as it isn’t just the timetables that would require amendment. 4 mins each way it reportedly takes, so 8 mins on a round trip. It would change driver duties, vehicle workings, impact other routes where buses interwork routes. It’s not a case of just adding 4 mins to the timetable

Again this could all have been foreseen and planned for much better than it has been.

The drivers duties, workings etc could all have been drawn up and be ready to go when the opening date became clearer.

It would even have been possible, albeit I accept carrying an inefficiency cost to introduce the new timetable in May with the 4 minute lag and the buses wait time (somewhere safe such as the lay-bys at the Lamb & Flag) if necessary. This is in effect what happens on the A3 at Geevor on Saturdays when the museum is closed.

I can understand the A17 going into St.Erth station but it will be a real hindrance if the T1 has to go in there and out again. I saw a huge queue of cars waiting to get out through the traffic lights after a train had arrived with everyone trying to drive out at the same time. I cannot see many people wanting to get off the T1 to go to St.Ives, they are better off on the T2 or A17.

On Wednesday I saw one of the shortest Optares in St Erth Village - not sure what it was doing there, given First stopped serving it years ago. Would it have been on P&R services?

Thanks to whoever is responsible at First Kernow for this site. The regular reports are very much appreciated.

I would like to add my thanks also.

Also I note on the Bus Times website that 11041 worked the 214 on 4th June and 11117 the 225 on 3rd June. Are these two of the recently acquired Mercedes bends?
