Hello guys, I need an information about parking. I am currently working for Govia Thameslink but planning to relocate to Peterborough and use the station to work, Govia doesn't cover Peterborough but I think NLER control the car park at Peterborough station car park. Please how can I get a free parking or discount parking at Peterborough station.
Please I need the help.

You don’t. LNER manage the car park. You’re not an employee of theirs.

As far as LNER are concerned, you are no different to any other commuter.

Many station car parks are managed by a third party. I get no discount or free parking at any of these even at my own TOC. Only permitted parking is at the work location & then only officially for duty purposes.

GTR have a crew depot at Peterborough, I assume the staff there must have some allocated parking. You’d be better placed asking GTR if they can provide parking, than asking on here.

Correct as GTR has allocated parking from LNER for ALL employees be train crew, booking office or platform staff etc.

The correct way was to ask LNER for the application form then you get your manager to counter sign it then you go back to LNER with it plus proof of ID and they add you to the system and you got given a pass to work the car park barriers.

Of course as they now use ANPR cameras that’s changed but the principle way of applying wouldn’t have changed.

Just remember parking is at a premium at Peterborough so while you might get a pass you might not always get a space.

As a GTR driver surely your chauffeur could just circle the block while waiting for you?

You need to ask GTR if they have any agreement with LNER for parking at Peterborough. Alternatively asking the station manager for the station will either get you a positive or negative response, I have known ECML stations issue parking permits to people from other TOCs by request but not at a location as busy as Peterborough.

GTR take care of the Mayor's Walk car park for Traincrew in front of the old DB and Thameslink Depots

You need to ask Ivan in the GTR depot for a card to operate the Barrier

Just mind the Silver Mondeo thats all this DB driver can afford !!

As others may have said but I may as well say it as well

Drivers get use of the small car park just before you get to the "mayors walk" car park
Platform staff/other roles are allocated a card for "spittlebank" car park just up the road from that.
you're issued with a pass that has to be renewed/resigned yearly after that (if you're stuck at spittlebank like we common folk)

Nothing changes then, when I parked up there a few years ago now I used to park in either car park depending which one had spaces.

I know they’re only meant really for duty purposes but they’re a lifesaver for parking for leisure purposes especially as the Queensgate Car parks do get very busy!

They used to have a agreement and I believe it’s ongoing unless one party objects...

Wouldn't bother with Station Manager as they are LNER and possibly wouldn't know about the GTR staff car park

To be fair, it is a LNER managed station and ALL parking comes under LNER regardless of who you are so that is rather incorrect!

Which is why you will find LNER staff out and about maintaining all the car parks on near the station that are managed by LNER, yes there is a small car park designated for GTR drivers by their depot but the access is still managed by LNER hence any issues are raised with them so they ought to know.

That is true for public car parks, but the traincrew car parks are managed by GTR, as we at DB had to apply for our spaces and the graciously gave us 10 spaces. with the cards being personally given to us through GTR. Plus when the mayors walk car park was resurfaced by LNER our ploughed field was not touched

That’s changed then as it always was the fact that the only non LNER car park was for FCC drivers, all the other car parks were LNER managed with the Mayors Walk car park set aside for non train crew working for LNER, FCC etc...
