From time to time since the 8th Century ferries have run from North Berwick across the Firth of Forth. The most recent one ran to Anstruther but I am not sure it is operating this year.

Winfarthing has a pub called the Fighting Cocks. So does Middleton St George, near Darlington. (The latter one gave its name to a station on the original course of the Stockton and Darlington Railway).

Schull is in the foothills of Mount Gabriel. Another archangel is St Michael, and Marazion is the nearest village to St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall.

The battleship HMS Warspite was broken up on the beach near Marazion after running aground there whilst under tow to the breakers yard. She was built not too far away in Devonport.
