Dover?
While 156s have done Glasgow-Kilwinning-Ayr-Girvan/Stranraer, have any been on the Largs branch? Or on the Gourock/Wemyss Bay lines for that matter?
Dover and beyond!!
On 16th June 1989,156 502 in full Strathclyde Orange and Black livery was driven under its own power from the Railway Technical Centre all the way to Holland & back via the SNCF train ferry from Dover Western Docks to Dunkerque from where the unit was driven through France and Belgium to the Dutch border at Essen and on to Utrecht with help from SNCF, SNCB and NS train crews.
Very good question!
Largs branch as far as Ardrossan South Beach has been done on this railtour, (edit) also confirms Bellgrove to Coatbridge Sunnyside

Don't think any have been through Central Low Level
It's amazing to think there was enough slack in Euston operations back then that you could waste it on a 2-car DMU.
150/1, 150/2, 153, 155, 156 and 158 have all operated scheduled services along the Oxford to Worcester line. The 158 was for a very short time, and if I remember rightly it was on a Friday evening when a 158 which was borrowed from Tyseley was returning. This was used on the Bicester Town to Bristol service. I think it was scheduled to come across that line as ecs, but remember at least twice it came across in service.Unless there were some odd services in the very early days of the class that I don't know about they have never operated scheduled services on:
Any of the Thames valley branches off the GWML
Reading to Westbury
Wootton Bassett to Bristol Parkway
Oxford to Worcester

About as much a Sprinter as an NIR Class 450, but did the Class 210s operate any of those during their short tenure in service?Unless there were some odd services in the very early days of the class that I don't know about they have never operated scheduled services on:

Other posters have shown that Sprinters did indeed operate Wootton Bassett to Bristol Parkway and also Oxford to Worcester. But during the stay of 150001 and 150002 at Reading did they never reach Newbury at least? I know they were intended for Reading-Basingstoke, but are 150s cleared for the Berks and Hants line - certainly they'd not be foul of anything on a route then routinely operated by 165/166s and HSTs, so clearance would be a paper exercise, but...Unless there were some odd services in the very early days of the class that I don't know about they have never operated scheduled services on:

Yeah I found out about Sprinters being used between withdrawal of the 117s and introduction of the 165s/166s on the Cotswold line rather than the latter directly taking over from the former as happened on various other lines shortly after making the post but forgot to edit it.150/1, 150/2, 153, 155, 156 and 158 have all operated scheduled services along the Oxford to Worcester line. According to Wikipedia, 210001 was used on services to Newbury but as you say it isn't really a Sprinter.About as much a Sprinter as an NIR Class 450, but did the Class 210s operate any of those during their short tenure in service?

The Cross City line has been worked by 150/1, 150/2, 156, and 158. Not sure about 153. Seem to remember a distant memory of an evening train to Redditch containing a 153.The cross city line services were solely in the hand of 1st gen DMUs prior to electrification so if we're excluding the 950, Barnt Green to Redditch is a likely candidate. Aston to Lichfield is less likely due to it's occasional use as a diversionary route.

The sprinter shuttle from Swindon to Bristol Parkway really is an oddity, though.
Aye, there's a pic out in the interwebz of a Carmine/Cream 156 (I think. Need to go dig it out) at Milngavie dating from the late 90s/early 2000s.Definitely been to Milngavie- there was a spell in the 2000s I think where Knightswood Tunnel was shut for engineering & the Maryhill services ran through to Milngavie.

Dalreoch to Balloch is a pretty good shout. Can't remember one ever venturing down there. Think the same can be said of Craigendoran-Helensburgh Central & the Hamilton Loop/Larkhall branch (unless there's an obscure pic out there just waiting to be found to prove me wrong lol)? Don't recall any Sprinters visiting any of these lines, at least not recently.
E: found the image. Faint memory proved correct, it was a Carmine/Cream 156 lol
I can't think they've operated passenger services between Chathill and Dunbar?
Quicker to divert them via Carmyle, Whifflet and Mossend Yard (rejoining the normal route at Mossend North* Junction), I would've thought? Unless there's a driver/route knowledge or route clearance issue preventing the use of Mossend North* Junction in this way that I'm unaware of? Answers on a postcard, please.Shotts services could of been diverted via Hamilton Loop?
If not already, you can add Birkenhead to the 150 list. One ran through to there on some proving run recently. May have been posted elsewhere on this site, but it definitely ran.
Today, Post #83. The more posts the merrier
