Good evening to you.

Just a quick question guys. I am looking for information on EMT DMU diagrams. As I have attempted to create these myself but only coming up with 37 diagrams for 57 DMU’s. To me that doesn’t seem quite right as it would leave a spare capacity of around 35% mark. So I can only imagine that some of my diagrams must have at least 2 units allocated to them. If anyone knows differently or can kindly point me in the direction of some diagrams, I would be extremely grateful guys. Any help would be great, Many thanks.

Ow on a footnote here. Does anyone know/remember a website a few years back, that contained hundreds of diagrams for many different operators. It had all of Northerns diagrams too. I seem to recall it was by someone who went by the handle ‘PRAR.’

A quick internet search suggests it was http://www.prar.fsnet.co.uk/diagrams.html. I must admit that the information there helped me track down units ten years ago.

However it no longer exists - that is fsnet doesn't exist rather than the individual himself. Presumably the information once available exists somewhere (but not online).

I can’t think of any pair of unit diagrams that stay together for the whole day (they’d still be shown as two separate diagrams even in that case though, possibly unless (e.g.) two 153s were used to cover for an unavailable 156 or 158). It’s probably easiest to post on here what you’ve already got - there’s a few folk who’ll be able to point out any obvious holes quite quickly.

Are you maybe missing the (2nd to make a double) 158's that just do Liverpool-Nottingham & back all day? That would presumably account for around 4 or 5 units extra.

I'd be very interested to see your findings as i've also been working on a similar task.

Hi there Tomnick,

I have taken into account the additional class 158 which attaches/detaches at Nottingham. I just don’t understand why EMT are frequently short of rolling stock. I will have another look over them and compare them to the actual public timetable. Many thanks for the reply.

Hi there Andy Pacer,

I have been working my way through the different TOC’s trying to generate some diagrams. It seems that EMU diagrams are quite easily found found online, via websites or EMU forums etc. However, DMU’s are more difficult to find. My EMT lists are not currently on a digital format, still in the old school note book form. I will try, commitments allowing, try and get them on my P.C. Many thanks for your reply.

A slight query that's cropped up with my attempt at this, there's a 1544 arrival (2K41) at Sleaford from Lincoln Central (Mon-Fri) that doesn't appear to have anything to work onto, I assume it must be a 153 that joins onto something, but does anyone know what? Possibly either 2K56 back to Lincoln or 2K45 to Peterborough?

Any help gratefully received

Shunts to platform 2 and joins on to 2K56 back to Lincoln. Strengthened for the school kids travelling back from Sleaford. They then work the 1726 from Lincoln to Leicester.

Brilliant thanks, that's also solved another query as I knew the 1726 was a double 153 (I use it sometimes as I live in Syston) but wasn't sure where it joined.

Not a problem. I take it you’ve noticed there’s a similar detachment in the morning at Sleaford off 2L53, which then forms 2K30 0840 to Doncaster.

On weekdays it’s booked as 2x153 from Nottingham, splits at Sleaford with 1x153 continuing to Peterborough and the other to Doncaster. On Saturdays, it works in to Lincoln as 3x153 (May-September) and splits at Lincoln, 2x153 to Peterborough and 1x153 to Grimsby Town. For the rest of the year it’s 4x153 with the Peterborough and Grimsby services being 2x153.

I bet i'm thinking of the Saturday variant.

Another query i've come across, is the 0656 Worksop to Lincoln (2L57) booked as 2 units which then split at Lincoln to form 2K13 to Peterborough and 2L58 to Leicester?

Yes, normally a 156/153 combination. 153 forms 2K13 and 156 2L58.
