What is the procedure with significant delays using this tickets and how do you apply for compensation ?
Would a seat reservation do as proof you were on the train along with a photo upload of your ticket?
What happens if you’ve no seat reservation - can you still claim ?
I trust you apply to each train company separately ?

If this has been asked before please accept my apologies but couldn’t find it on the search feature.

Apply to the train company that caused the delay. A seat reservation is useful but not compulsory (for starters you can't get a seat reservation for all services!)

Different TOCs seem to have different methods of calculating the amount due but Rover and Ranger tickets are not barred from delay repay claims.

I have had to claim delay repay in the past whilst on an ALR...
Train companies have Always given more vouchers that I thought that I might been entitled to...

Some TOCs don't want to pay out. I put in a compensation claim with Great Western as my journey was delayed and they said they wouldn't because I was using a rover.

GWR don't mention Rover/Ranger tickets in their delay repay conditions. They only mention "single, return and weekly tickets".

https://www.gwr.com/help-and-support/refunds-and-compensation/delay-repay

From 1 April 2019 GWR has introduced the Delay Repay compensation scheme for passengers holding single, return and weekly tickets.

I'm sure some of the forum's fare experts will have a view on this!

On the online form though you can select Rover/Ranger. They definitely do pay out on Rovers and the like because I've claimed delay repay on a Freedom of the Severn and the Solent.

I wonder why @RJ was denied compensation then? Maybe it was before GWR went onto delay repay (which was only in April?)

GWR has compensated me the full price of a 3-day rover for one hour delay, on two occasions. This was under the old scheme.

It was under the old system. They paid out on a previous delay where I was on a diverted train that lost 74 minutes along the way. They acknowledged this in the letter but basically said they wouldn't be paying out any more claims for delays whilst travelling on a rover.
