So, you believe that businesses should provide customers with something they haven't paid for, purely because the customer decides that's what they want?

You, I, or anyone else, can ask CS for a hotel room when this happens. CS can decide to say yes if they want to. My point, as I am confident you are well aware, is that they don't have to and that if they say no, as is their right under the contract you agreed with them, there's not a thing you can do about it.

Is it poor customer service? Yes. Is it poor PR? You bet it is. Is it inconsistent with the public image they have chosen to project? Absolutely. Have they done anything wrong? Not even remotely.
They may not have done anything unlawful, although I would like to see them try to defend their position in court if, god forbid, some harm came to a passenger as a result of being effectively marooned at KX with no accommodation.

I can't travel by coach, so I won't use the sleeper until the service improves dramatically. As a woman travelling alone I do not intend to find myself in the position of having to find hotel accommodation in London, late at night, or having to hang around Euston until God knows what time.

None of the options are acceptable, which is fine. Their loss, I won't use them.

ScotRail have just tweeted about the line being blocked still by 5C11.

CS tweeted 17 min ago that the Edinburgh portion would leave on time.

They're either very confident of recovery or more likely the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

CS have now replied to my tweet and said there are no scheduled or anticipated disruptions to Euston-Glasgow service on Tuesday.

At present, for that reason, I will not be using CS.

That goes for me as well.
I was trying to think of a tour Chunnel-Lowlander-& then Oban-Ft William-Mallaig-Kyle-Dingwall-Thurso-Inverness-HML (or the other way round) - Lowlander-Chunnel. Not just on the train every day but taking about a fortnight.
The brilliance of CS & of the HST introduction have put me off. Perhaps I should post details of the plan in the subsection Abandonded Ideas of the forum Trip Planning & Reports. :E

RTT shows 5C11 as having passed Uddingston Junction at 2248.My guess is a pretty late departure for the Southbound Lowlander from Edinburgh.

Edit- Carluke passed at 2318 and ETA of the stock at Edinburgh is 2355

Also the Southbound Highlander is diverted after Perth tonight not calling at stations via Falkirk Grahamston. The website made no mention of any alternative service for these passerngers

Wonder what day the Mk Vs will slam on the e-brakes to an unmovable halt at the point of maximum chaos outside Euston in the morning... Any ideas what the interesting rumour about the Mark Vs in the TPE thread is all about? Are we approaching the point of Network Rail putting them off the network until the problems are sorted out? There must be some people thinking what if this happens at X at Y o'clock?

Wouldn't be all that much of an issue as it's relatively straightforward to get them moving at c.5 mph - which is OK just outside Euston as could go back into platform (if not heading that way anyway). In fact it's already happened once, but didn't get much attention as didn't cause all that much disruption.

If we’re having a sweepstake, can I have a TPE set doing it at either P13/14 at Manchester Piccadilly at 8am on a weekday morning?

A thought just occurred to me- does what happened recently mean that if someone pulls the passcom at 87mph (or faster for TPE) then the wheelsets could be goosed?

Southbound lowlader will be late south of Carstairs, 5C11 approaching Kirknewton, by the time they load passengers on won't depart Edinburgh until 00.30 to 00.40 maybe later, 5C11 should have arrived in Edinburgh 21.52
