LNR? Its happening right now, just taking a while since its the first 350 unit having interior refit at the same timeDoes anyone know when relivery will start again??
Ok, thanks!LNR? Its happening right now, just taking a while since its the first 350 unit having interior refit at the same time
Once the first unit is done it will start speeding up hopefully since they will most likely split the work into 2 phases
Will they be fitting an auto SDO type system like Scotrail 385s have where the interior PIS displays 'coach 1 of 8' or 'coach 2 of 8' etc in each coach with auto announcements advising customers for short platforms to move forward in the coaches affected? The de-lettering of trains with the new livery makes me think they might do?LNR? Its happening right now, just taking a while since its the first 350 unit having interior refit at the same time

Hope so, i dont see why they wouldnt to be honest since at stations they have similar announcements for trains that splitWill they be fitting an auto SDO type system like Scotrail 385s have where the interior PIS displays 'coach 1 of 8' or 'coach 2 of 8' etc in each coach with auto announcements advising customers for short platforms to move forward in the coaches affected? What I was asking is whether the system South Western Railway had retrofitted to their Desiro fleet is likely to be fitted to the 350/1s and /3s. Whereby the internal electronic displays within the train show which coach you are in by showing a number. E.g. 'coach 2 of 8'. The system also knows which stations have short platforms, and automatically announces to move forward through the train before those stations. To use this system, coach letters are no longer any use so are not needed. Conincedence?Lettering of coaches only makes sense if units always face the same direction. I have on a few occasions travelled on a Pendo between Birmingham and London which has been running in reverse formation yet they normally run end to end with no reverses. Cross country Voyagers between Manchester and the West Country could be facing either way depending on which route they take south of Birmingham, I was on a GWR HST on the Cotswold LIne a couple of years ago when the guard announced that because the train was running in reverse formation it would on this occasion be the last two coaches which would be at the short platform of the station where I was to get off.

If it was behind a Europhoenix 37, it would have been 350123, which has just returned to Northampton from Long Marston.Passed this yesterday. Didn't see the unit number, but it was heading south.
Base livery, either dark blue or green doors. Fleet number was the small (350/3) type font, really cannot be sure, but may have been 35040X ?

Aye. So I wonder whether the removal of coach letters on the 350s indicates that an electronic version of coach letters or numbers will be added during refurb like at SWR?I was responding your last sentence in your previous quote about no lettering on the new livery. Cross Country Voyagers display the letters electronically because when two units are coupled together there are four possible ways that they can be coupled.
And we still wait for 350/106 to be released. Mabye they are gonna refurb 2 at the same timeIf it was behind a Europhoenix 37, it would have been 350123, which has just returned to Northampton from Long Marston.
To put this one to bed, 350115 remained in London Midland colours but it was hauled to Long Marston on Saturday. 350104 returned in the plain grey.A couple of notes.
Appears 350115 is not in LNWR livery, but a "base livery" according to the 350 refurb thread.
Thanks for clarifying that @Defiance149 - it seemed a bit remiss IMHO for it to have allegedly had the full refurb without its corrosion repair works and LM de-branding.To put this one to bed, 350115 remained in London Midland colours but it was hauled to Long Marston on Saturday. 350104 returned in the plain grey.
Are the signs also different colours? Does this happen at any of their other stations?Just seen a picture on Flickr, and Lichfield Trent Valley appears to have finally gained new lamppost colours - LNWR two-tone green on the WCML platforms, and WMR orange/gey on the Cross-City platform.
No on both counts. Tamworth, their only other 2-level station on the WCML, has LNWR throughout, as it isn't served by WMR on P3/4.Are the signs also different colours? Does this happen at any of their other stations?
