Are we still expecting Barrow/Windermere and Liverpool - Man Airport to be the first routes?7 units in service from Monday
Well that would certainly be okay with me as it would mean my commute to work was on the first of those journeysI think a good bet for a 195 on Monday will be:
06:47 Barrow-Manchester Airport
09:29 Manchester Airport-Barrow
14:46 Barrow-Manchester Airport
17:29 Manchester Airport-Windermere
Windermere Shuttles until
22:45 Windermere-Preston
Well that would certainly be okay with me as it would mean my commute to work was on the first of those journeys
I may even wait and get a later journey home to travel on that one too. We'll have to wait and see what happens. Honestly, I just hope it all goes smoothly.
How does that compare to the number of units actually received so far?7 units in service from Monday

A spokesman for Northern confirms that 9 NEW 195s will be in service from Monday July 1st ; does not say which routes.
Repoter alongside a new 195 says more in local news tonight in NW at 1830.
It's the Arriva Rail North slogan. Surprised to see it as a name on a unit though.Silly name for this unit.
Correct. This is what my colleague (jammy individual) who was in today's press trip was told. There will indeed be a package on BBC North-West Tonight on BBC One at 1830.A spokesman for Northern confirms that 9 NEW 195s will be in service from Monday July 1st ; does not say which routes.

Eh, no 195s East of the Pennines yet. Hopefully, a smooth rollout.
That is 2 car heavily (over) loaded.I've just seen an acceleration graphs for these - is there a reason performance is so poor? 300 seconds to 100mph seems pretty sluggish with 530hp engines.

3 car average loading is around 260s
I guess it depends on gearing.Might well be quick off the blocks but have a long 6th gear taking from 75-100mph.It still seems pretty sluggish, unless it's far better at lower speeds for start-stop all stations workings?

The important one is the 0-60MPH.
they are quite heavy units, but with an uprated MTU block should be capable of 0.75-0.8m/s/s which will basically match a sprinter
So anyone know the 0 to 60 time then. I hear the 3 car 331s are one of the quickest emus at 30sec so it would be interesting to compare as well as a 750hp 185.Perhaps I being naive, but I keep expecting new units to outperform what they are replacing. Though it does seem I shouldn't read much into their 100mph top speed, as you say it's 0-60 that's important really.
0-60 in 30 seems achievable with quite a few modern EMUs as long as they aren't a cut-down variety. The 345s can certainly do it as I've witnessed it and it feels like 700s (on AC) would be able to as well. I gather 710s are just as potent. So anyone know the 0 to 60 time then.
