In this world of E tickets etc. does anyone know if it is possible for me to buy a ticket and send it electronically to a relative in Wolverhampton for a Virgin train journey to Euston where I'll meet her next week?

One way that might work is to book it online and pay using Paypal, they will then be able to collect using the reference and any card. PayPal sales have to be "any card" as PayPal won't communicate the card number to the merchant.

Alternatively, book an e-ticket if offered (it MUST be an e-ticket, not an m-ticket) and forward them the PDF.

So a Paypal booking in my name can be picked up by her using her credit card and my reference?

Do you know which companies offer e tickets rather than m-tickets please?

Would it be easier to book through a company who offer free first class Royal Mail delivery, such as TPE? The tickets can be delivered direct to your relatives home address without the stress of eTickets! This may not be available for travel next week though.

It should be possible to get a PDF ticket on Virgin - send on the PDF and it can be printed and used.

Thanks - can it be shown on a phone or does it need to be printed?
