Here in Falkirk it is raining cats and dogs and we have had some thunder and lightning this afternoon.

Have just come off the phone from my son and he confirms it is 30 + in the Black Country - sunshine all the way !!

Is there no justice in life ?

Anyone else been excluded from the sunshine today ?

Only 20 odd miles away from you and no sun either. No thunderstorms here (but could hear yours in the distance ) and just a bit of heavy rain.

On national weather forecast last night, Tomasz Schafenacker said it would be a tale of two cities/towns in SW England today, 30C in Bristol and 18C in Penzance; well, I live in Penzance, where it never went over 16C yesterday either. The sun did come out here today about 2 p.m., and the temperature may have reached 20C!

It’s been thunder and lightning, with heavy rain since about 4pm in East Lothian. I was in Dundee earlier today though and it was glorious sunshine. Welcome to the unpredictable wonders of Scottish summer weather - at least in winter it’s “dreich” 90% of the time.

Cornwall is one of the coldest areas of the UK in summer. Climate statistics show the nearest weather station to Penzance (at Camborne) has an average maximum temperature of only 16.7 degrees Celsius in June, making it cooler than Edinburgh

It has been rather warm in the area of Yorkshire I am in, but I would describe it as muggy (which is the worst!) - the forecast suggests we may get rain later which probably explains it.

Looks like it is forecast to cool off a bit after today (which is fine by me, as sitting in a lighting gallery, as I will be doing for the coming few days, in the height of a heatwave can be somewhat un-fun!)

Well it hit 27 yesterday here in Glasgow, but as you rightly say - it's been grey and overcast all of today if still rather muggy. Even post-thunderstorm it's still quite warm.

Come to sunny East Anglia. Bit hot for the crews on the footplate at the Mid Norfolk Steam Gala but no heat related speed restrictions 8-)

Penzance lost its official recording status about twenty years ago when a couple of educated idiots in the same vein as Boris Johnson decided to 'kidnap' the recording equipment and hold it to ransom: perhaps unsurprisingly, the Met Office were not playing ball, the equipment got 'lost' and has never been replaced. Penzance then lost its proud record of often being the warmest place in the UK in the winter months, and sometimes the sunniest too. The other side of the coin is that we're not officially the coolest in the summer months!

I think we have all been excluded in a way, when we can only reach ~33°C whilst France enjoys a burning 45.9°C...

Enjoys? There's very little you can do, let alone enjoy, at that temperature.

Liverpool reached 25° around lunchtime but was very humid and unpleasant. Several people I know stated their jealousy of parts of France and other countries reaching 45°. I mean seriously! What kind of insane do you have to be to want it that hot? Once you get above 25° you could comfortably walk around outside naked aside from fear of arrest. Ha ha. Why would you want it to be as hot as countries that struggle to sustain life?

Roasting in Bucks. Wouldn't have wanted it any hotter, I am already suffering from mild heatstroke and dehydration (own stupid fault so no sympathy requested).

Tell me about it! The whole line was up the spout from about 5pm with only a very limited service to and from the west of Middlesbrough. Had to abandon ship.

Sounds like 'wrong kind of location' for those that like hot days. It's been well over 30 here today, - I'd prefer it to be in the teens this evening, and maybe a bit of rain would be nice as well so that I can get to sleep!

I'm on holiday at the moment. Cruised up from Barlaston to Etruria and then onto the Caldon Canal in sweltering heat. It would be nice to have a bit of rain, I pondered. Then, just before my current mooring at Milton, my wish was granted for a brief period when the heavens opened. "Erm, maybe not quite this much" I thought. But the sky directly above was just dotty bits of white/light grey cloud, so I've no idea where it came from!

Just up the road in the Highlands and it's been very wet since early afternoon, it was a challenge getting the dog out for his walk without getting soaked.

The temperature here hit 40°C for the second time this week yesterday. No records broken but with July and August still to come, chances are that new records will be set. Thankfully, early morning temperatures have been very agreeable, around 18/19°.

No need to worry about ever-increasing maximum temperatures, just jump in the car and turn up the air conditioning.

Which uses up even more fuel...

Just roll down the windows instead.

Weather was basically the same here as it was in the black country but I would have loved some rain and cool weather. This weekend has basically been a write off for me as it's simply too hot to do anything.
