2AEDA63E-75EE-426C-9969-1B61FA2FD1BC.png Seems to have been a pretty torrid end to the weekend last evening. All lines blocked due to overhead line problems in the Gidea Park area (caused by a TfL Rail unit?) from about 21:00. No buses could be sourced and passengers queued for up to 4 hours for taxis or had to bed down at Liverpool Street overnight. Many resorted to taxis home (as far at Ipswich) at the own expense according to Twitter. Seems to have been a complete breakdown of any contingencies (which late on a Sunday would never be easy), but even so pretty grim for those involved.

Seems initially they could only get 2 buses and they were from the Southend RRB set ! and finally 4 buses by midnight, seems no one wanted to turn out ! had a collegue whose mates went to a concert, they were stuck at Liverpool Street, and did get a taxi, but that was paid for by AGA, as were some others in the same group, so maybe those that paid did not want to hang around waiting for the paperwork to be done ?

TFL Rail were just as bad. Trains were only running to Chadwell Heath, so me and many others were told to go there and would be busses. Having got there we were told the busses meant the N86 to Romford and then make your own way from there (which at that time of night meat taxi or nothing).

Cue lots of angry people shouting at the 1 member of staff on duty.

If a passenger was supposed to be going to Norwich on Sunday night but was caught up in the incident, would GA reimburse the passenger for a one night hotel stay local to Liverpool St station ?
I looked at the Ace hotel on Shoreditch High St for next Sunday night and it is about £200, probably similar to a Taxi fare to NRW.

There was a train at 06:00 so I very much doubt it. Delay repay would kick in though ;)

Perhaps not ideal but passengers via c2c then using the existing Rail Replacement Bus from Southend to Shenfield.

Another option would have been via Stansted Airport then X30 to Chelmsford connecting with trains there. Passengers for Norwich via West Anglia.

Doubt the X30 runs late on Sunday night ?

Last departure from Stansted 01:30 restart at 04:00

Its a long while since I lived on that side of London but the loss of all four lines seems pretty spectacular. I remember plenty of late night journeys with the wiring train working on the other pair of lines.
