They don't like using double deckers, based on passenger safety, the driver can't assist anything that is happening upstairs that they aren't aware of like they could downstairs.
Yet many respected operators use double deckers without passenger safety being a problem. I know it was seen as an issue some years back as on a training course I was told double deckers were no longer being used which at the time I thought the trainer was talking out of his backside.

Yes, by about 20 minutes. The i4 takes just over an hour in the middle of the day.
Ok, thanks. I've never been on the Y5 and because of the way the Mango cap works it wouldn't pay me to do so.

I'm surprised YourBus haven't cottoned on to the gap in the market for a mid speed service to Nottingham, with enough stops to qualify for bus pass status.

Mind you at one stage TB were looking at adding another stop to the Red Arrow to force the local councils to accept passes....obviously it didn't happen for whatever reason.

Think its the contactless fare capping they are claiming a first in the UK but that's wrong as Transdev Blazefield are already doing that.

I'm not sure. They had a pilot - that said it'd be rolling out in February this year (and there's definitely places to tap out on buses that have appeared recently - since May) on Transdev Keighley, but I can't find anything about how or if it works for the general populace. I've not yet seen anyone tap out.

Seems to be rolling out, there is a web page dated July 4 for Transdev Harrogate http://harrogatebus.co.uk/news.jsp?newsID=2651
Keep going. Stop paying!

Keep going, stop paying!

Tap on and tap off with your contactless card, and we'll do the hard work by working out the cheapest fare for you!

How does it work?
The idea is simple - tap your card on the reader when you get on your bus, tap when you get off, and we'll work out the cheapest fare for you.

If it's cheapest for you to pay for a single, day or weekly ticket, we'll cap the price you pay at whatever is the cheapest for the trip you're making.

So if you travel on several of our buses in one day, you'll only pay for a day ticket, and if you travel for two or three days and the cost equals more than the price of a weekly ticket, you'll only pay for a weekly ticket. You won't be charged for the rest of the week, no matter how many buses you use. For example, if you're travelling between York and Leeds, the price is capped at £10 per day, or £37 for the week.

And it means that for the first time, you'll be able to buy our range of Gold tickets with contactless - if you travel more than a few days a week, we'll automatically cap your spend at £37, the price of a weekly Gold ticket.

How do I sign up?
It's so easy - and there's nothing you need to do, except tap on and tap off with your card the next time you travel!

First, you'll need to make sure that you've got a contactless bank or credit card - look for the contactless logo on your card. You can also take part if you've got a smartphone or watch with Apple Pay or Google Pay.

You can see a record of your travel history, and how much you've spent, by logging in to our tap on, tap off portal with your card details.
