I meant 8 available so if one or two need maintenance there can still be 4 tph, as was the case before electrification started and in 2017-early 2018.

The electrification was due to be completed in February 2017, but the 710s were only due by early 2018, with passenger service from March 2018. Both were late.

I see from RTT that GOBLIN started well this morning with a full service. However, one failed at around 4pm and another at around 7.30pm. Does anyond know what went wrong and whether these were both 710s?

been mentioned on Twitter that as from next week some 710s are due to go to Worksop for storage along side the x3 MK4 sets and x5 345 units, any ideas why this is?

Bombardier Derby Works have been over flowing for a nearly a year but there isn't enough storage for the Crossrail units in London currently and they need to clear space at Derby for the new stock coming out of the works. Until Lo are ready to start taking delivery of the 710s for West Anglia they need to go somewhere.

A 5 car for the Nll/Wll is being tested at Velim so production of the 710's must be near the end as these were the supplementary order.

Have to say the livery looks so much better than the crossrail units just a shame bombardier use the cheap halogen looking yellowish bulbs and not the led type siemens use on the 700/7.

What's the timeline for this now? I.e. is there another 710 entering service every 2 weeks or something like that, or is it as simple as "as soon as there are enough trained staff"? If the latter is the case, how well is this progressing? It's good to see that we have more 710s in service but it will be better when there are enough to operate without 378s as well, so that they can be displaced back to their other lines.

What does seem to happen most days is that a train will experience a 12 minute delay - often at a terminal. This seems to be related to a known software glitch whereby the train doors won't open and the driver has to change ends and "reset" the train.

717s have similar issues.. is this feature something laid down by the DfT or something?!

(Yesterday, a 717 was 25 minutes late due to doors not opening and requiring a number of full reboots [cut power, pans down...] before working. No need for the driver to change ends though).

More likely that there is a simpler fix, but the subtle clues pointing to it haven't had enough driver exposure yet.

9 car 345s also been needing regular reboots, ETCS computer related.

Any info on what the loadings are like on the Goblin now it's 4 car and 4 tph?

I took it from Wanstead Park last week in the morning peak, and it was entirely pleasant. By Blackhorse Road it was pretty busy, but nothing uncomfortable – this was on a 378, so a little less passenger space than the 710 I guess.

I've obviously just completely avoided it for the past couple of years because of how totally unusable it was, but it seems to be pretty suited now. I imagine it will get busier as more people realise it's a usable alternative again.

I see from RTT that all Goblin services are now due to be operated by the 710.

How would you tell from RTT? They've been timed for 710s since long before the units were introduced at all.
Exactly they have been showing that for weeks and there haven't been special 710 head codes for over a month.
On the 378 thread it is meant to be 5x 710 and 1x 378 this week with 6x 710 next week

There are now 4 tph alternate hours on the Euston-Watford locals, with RTT showing 4tph throughout from this coming Saturday. So evidently the released 378s are immediately reverting. Are they having their 5th cars reinstated I wonder? There is however no indication of the NLL's ghastly 12-14 minute peak gaps being filled, which is supposed to happen as 710s release 378s from the Watford.

Do we know where is the next batch of 710s going to? On to the Lea Valley lines or the DC or NLL? I know Lea Valley customers are itching for them but at least they currently have just about enough trains to cover their peak diagrams (although I know there are regular short formations and cancellations). I would guess driver training may well be a factor here.

They've been showing them as 710 even when they were still using 172s.
There were definitely 2 or 3 378s on the Goblin yesterday.
