yep will go with that :D
retired six years ago at 59
now with a state pension and bus pass at 65 3 months and eight days ;)

i tend to be self sufficient and help others
yes i do have loads off time on my hands but use a lot off it helping others in the local community virtually always free off charge or indeed at my expense ;);)
so my veiw in life seems quite different to yours ;)
Sorry mate. I didn't mean to criticize the way you live your life, it came out completely wrong. I was referring to the temperatures you mentioned. Having to function day to day in temperatures of plus 50° in sunlight is not nice. Maybe some can cope, not many.

I despise the heat. I struggle with anything over 16°, so as you can imagine yesterday was an utter nightmare!!

Driving back from Edinburgh yesterday, all was well until we hit Bridge of Earn and then the skies emptied. The storm then seemed to follow us all the way up the road. I'd chosen to go up over Glenshee due to the number of roadworks on the A9, and it ended up being a much slower journey as a result. We did see some spectacular lightning displays, though.

Here in Falkirk it is raining cats and dogs and we have had some thunder and lightning this afternoon.

Have just come off the phone from my son and he confirms it is 30 + in the Black Country - sunshine all the way !!

Is there no justice in life ?

Anyone else been excluded from the sunshine today ?

Lashed it down in Edinburgh at about that time on Saturday too.
Thankfully, I was in Newcastle and only got wet due to the profuse sweating I was doing in the heat.
Experienced 3 weeks of temperatures between 28 and 32 degrees in Florida 18 months ago, yet Saturday night was far more uncomfortable

I believe part of the problem here is humidity and it can make it rather muggy. I guess Florida is a drier heat that is perhaps more bearable?

Yes. A good clue as to how humid it is is to get an icy-cold drink in a glass and see how much condensation appears on the outside. If it's a light, foggy condensation it's not at all humid. If it drips down like a waterfall it sure is a muggy day!!

I’m currently in the Dordogne region in France. It’s 40 degrees outside (and a cool 28 in the house with the shutters closed).
My brother-in-law keeps suggesting that we buy the house next door, but there’s no way I could cope with this heat for long. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
Walking around the village earlier was like having a day out in a night storage heater.

Tell me about it! The whole line was up the spout from about 5pm with only a very limited service to and from the west of Middlesbrough. Had to abandon ship.
That would explain why the line at the bottom of our garden in Dinsdale is a bit quit. 30C, full sun and a HOT wind

I spent the day working in our garden cutting overhanging branches, trimming bushes and weeding. I had to keep stopping to have a break and to drink water. Usually I tend to try and get the garden sorted before the hot weather but I came home later than normal this year.

It is so difficult to do anything or think straight in the day. Sleeping at night has been impossible some nights. It might be hotter than this elsewhere but lets not wish for even warmer weather! This climate is hot enough.

English people are not good in the sun due to lack of melamine. The lack of sun cream people wear is shocking. Gingers and blondes especially are very vulnerable. Worryingly there are too many of them in the high street looking red as a tomato.

It thundered last night here in Nottinghamshire. But yet it's supposed to be humid until Thursday! Makes no sense

I'm not sure a post about an incident in June would explain why the line was a bit quiet yesterday.

My opinion on this warm weather:
Living in the south, I am boiling here. Anything higher up than the ground floor is quite uncomfortable and I have found that a Buckinghamshire Railway Centre guide from years ago is a good fan.
To all those people moaning about having rain and no sun, shtum! It's horrible. Yes, we had thunder last night, but I was asleep last night and didn't see it. I'm boiling and everyone in the south is close to evaporating.

In all seriousness, though, my order will be the largest 99 with Flake you can get.

you have to provide your own ice cream. However surely you have prepared for this heat wave by stocking up. That was part of the pre crisis briefing note.....................
Oh dear. Missed that bit. Is anyone willing to send ice cream to me? Please?

-Peter

EDIT: I have a Nuii mint ice cream. And more in the freezer. I is saved. :)

I’ll post you some if send me address via pm.
:) Sorry, but it's a no from me, just found out I have vanilla ice cream and other ice creams in the freezer. Lovely. :)
Remember to use a jiffy bag, don't want to damage the cornet.
Or use a freeze box thing. You know, one of those bags you take on picnics to keep food cold? Or is that just me?

Well it is cloudy in Falkirk at the moment and not that hot - been raining earlier !!

Hold the ice cream until tomorrow when the sun is due to appear.

Aren't heat and humidity the key ingredients for a thunder storm?
Yep - if my knowledge from National 5 Geography from a few years ago is correct.
Even if it’s not meteorogically(?) correct, it seems to happen the majority of the time.

It thundered last night here in Nottinghamshire.

We had a huge thunderstorm in West Yorkshire at around 3am - it woke me up, which is unusual! Aside from the very loud thunder and bright flashes of light, the rain itself was (from what I heard, I didn't go look) absolutely bouncing down!
