I wonder how Jimmy Anderson feels about the problem that caused him not to bowl for Lancashire in the Durham second innings. In the six matches in the County Championship this season, his total bowling figures currently are:-
159.4 - 61 - 281 - 30.
Average : 9.37.
Economy : 1.76 runs per over.

Not that interested in test Cricket I'm afraid, it's quite dull tbh.
I really like T20 and One Day Cricket though, they have a much faster pace to them.
Really looking forward to this season's Vitality Blast!

I'm the complete opposite. I quite like 50-over cricket but can't stand T20. Its totally unfair on the bowlers. 10 wickets is too many for 20 overs. If you want a 2- to 3-hour game, watch baseball which is better suited to such a time frame and I quite like.

I'm dreading next season when there will be no 50-over cricket, leaving me with just the County Championship and Test Matches to watch. Sadly the integrity of the County Championship has been destroyed by central contracts. I don't think Jonny Bairstow has played once for Yorkshire this season,

What about the Royal London One Day cup? Is it not happening anymore then?

I come back to this thread as a novice but also a sports fan (that you were all very patient with last time).
A couple of weeks ago it didn’t look too good, but England managed to turn it on in the last couple of games.
What happens next do you think?
Have we got a chance of beating Australia even though they beat us a couple of weeks ago?
Any opinions much appreciated. ;)

The latest performance by the England Women's team in being dismissed for a very meagre innings total of 75 by Australia Women was an utter embarrassment to many of their supporters and asks questions of both their team management and the players themselves.

Wozers. NZ knocked off India by 18 runs to get into the final.
Now if England could just do the polite thing and lose that would be great. A trans-tasman final is a far more interesting spectacle. Don't worry we will get back to fighting you in The Ashes.

Definitely, Edgbaston is a faster pitch than Headingley, which better suits our playing style.
We also have Jason Roy batting, which we didn't have before.

Australia last beat England at Edgbaston in any competition in 2001, apparently. I think the key is the opening partnership: if England win the toss, which they overwhelmingly have so far in this competition, and choose to bat, which I presume they'd do, and Roy and Bairstow get going (again) then I think we have a chance. Unfortunately, as with poor old Rohit Sharma of India, they're both due a low score. Buttler, on the other hand, is overdue a big one. Starc and Lyon (I suspect) will be our main bowling obstacles. When Australia bat, Warner and Finch will be the most important wickets to get early.

Thanks for that, and for the other replies...
Edgbaston in 2001? That’s quite some stat.
I’ll be keeping an eye on it like the Johnny Come Lately glory hunter I clearly am.

A top order collapse. How novel.

Thankfully Michael Clarke is giving us the insights that a top cricket commentator should be giving us.
"Not the start Australia wanted"
Would never of known if he didn't tell us!

The cheat Smith has steadied the ship with Carey. If Australia can get 230/250 Starc and Cummins will be a handful. Not over. Not by a long way.

Nah. First ball. Easy.

Smith is getting marooned by his team at 118-5. The hutch is open

( ps still worried about starc and Cummins btw)
Funny how the pundits who thought NZ's score yesterday was not nearly enough don't learn: they're now blithely announcing that England are 'winning' before they even face a ball!

So far so good, we're 24/0 after 5 overs.
Hopefully we can keep it up, and build a good partnership

First wicket down with 124 runs on the board. Fearsome stuff from Roy who plundered 17 runs from a Smith (boo) over just before hand. Need 100 more runs with acres of time to play with. All about the wickets now.

Terrible decision on Roy there but we'd already wasted the review. Reckon he'll lose his match fee for the reaction as well.

England win by eight wickets with 107 balls remaining! Have to say it feels like we could have chased down 350 there if needed (though I'm certainly glad we didn't need to!!!!). So New Zealand on Sunday, what are people's thoughts? We've already turned them over once in very comprehensive fashion can we do it again?

Great to see the odious Warner our cheaply when it mattered .
Have to concede he is a good batsman though .
Roy and Barstow have got to open in ashes , Burns not test class

India should have turned them over yesterday but didn't!
I wouldn't underestimate the New Zealand bowlers.
We have a chance, we just need to keep Bairstow and Roy in the game long enough.

BBC Radio 4's Six O'Clock News included in the headlines the line "England's cricketers have spanked Australia...."

The highlight so far of an incredibly depressing year.

Agree with all that: the fact is that, with the exception of one game, NZ got no great totals. Guptill, Munro, Nicholls, Latham as batsmen have achieved nothing. Boult, Henry and Ferguson, on the other hand... NZ's blip was when they replaced Henry with Southee. Us Kent fans (a select band!) know how good a bowler Matt Henry is.

Listened to the game while working with a friend who plays a bit of cricket and was happy to be asked all the stupid questions I’ve always wanted to ask about the game.
Really enjoyed it.

The final on Sunday will be on Channel 4 - hooray! Hope it's a good, close game .
