Hi all, just a quick heads up to all of you that are waiting for any news on your applications, speaking to an “internal” colleague today regarding the latest recruitment drive, It seems that TFW have way to many potential candidates for certain stations and regions north of Shrewsbury, Some are still waiting for assessments from as far back as last October/November time for certain Depots up north, There is no real timescale for when they will be called forward even though they’ve advertised again for certain Depots earlier this year. There was a massive drive in October last year on what everyone expected were the Drivers of the future for the increased services in 2020/21,
It seems they are willing enough to let you all hang about waiting for them without proper explanation to any of the candidates. Its true that Crewe and Shrewsbury are training drivers but Holyhead and Chester are on stop at the moment. There is a Talent pool already in place for both of these Stations and also there is a handful of successful candidates still waiting for driver assessments after having interviews last October in Chester. So please don't get your hopes up just yet!
Its been a Poor show so far by TFW towards its own staff and all that have applied. The communication is non existent even for all of us that work within the company let alone all of you on the outside looking in.
ATW were not the best at communicating with its staff but this lot are even worse by the looks of It.
Hopefully they will get their act together soon and start talking to its people and customers rather than talking empty promises. Good luck to you all with your quests.

Anyone from the February round of applications heard anything yet?
A colleague from work said he had a rejection mail yesterday evening.

I’ve not heard anything, but I just logged in to check the status and there are no applications showing at all in my account! Anyone else had this problem?

Yes, I’m logged in with the capital letter at the start. I’ll check again in the morning and contact them if there’s still an issue.

Next course does indeed start the week after next, but at least some of those on it are the last remaining talent pool dwellers from last year. After that the next course is supposed to be in the autumn, but I don't know if there is a date set in stone for it just yet.

I am one of the dwellers from last year too! Do you know if there is anyone on the course for Chester or Holyhead?

Ah sorry to hear that. :(
Thanks mate ! I’ve got my assessment day with a freight company instead coming up so hopefully I’ll get something from that, was hoping it happened prior to being refused by TfW as if I passed I could have emailed them to add it to my application that i’d Passed and it may have given them a window to save a bit of money there but hey ho, there’s always next time !

Waiting since November

Ah I'm sorry. I know there's no more internal staff in last year's talent pool after this course starts, I thought the same was true for externals but obviously not.

Don't worry though, there's still a lot of recruitment to go yet. Whilst a lot of training has been taking place, there has also been a fair few departures at the other end, and the promises of the new franchise are going to require an increase in headcount. I know it's frustrating, I myself was in the talent pool even before that, but you're time will come I'm sure.

Thanks, I know it'll happen eventually but just wish I had a date to set my mind on!

I know of two internals who have been waiting since November and heard nothing yet either.

Good luck, they don't go into too much detail on the telephone interview but swot up on the company and the role of a driver all you'll be grand.

Also, I had my telephone interview on 16th of the month and had the face to face invite on the 23rd, so it was a week to the day.

You had possibly already said what they were looking for!

Ended with best of luck with the rest of the process and we look forward to speaking in the near future so fingers xd

Any advice for the face to face most welcome
I will see if I can remember any of the questions. I think there were 4 competency based ones whete you can use the STAR method, the rest were just general questions relating to the role, why do you want to be a train driver etc
